  • Publication number: 20240418672
Abstract: A sensor element includes a gas sensor that includes a solid electrolyte body, a heater, and a protective layer. The protective layer covers a detection tip end portion of the sensor element and has a porosity of equal to or greater than 25%. The protective layer includes a shielding side portion and a heater side portion. The shielding side portion is a planar portion on a side of the protective layer on which the solid electrolyte body is positioned in an opposing direction of the solid electrolyte body and the heater. The heater side portion is a planar portion on a side of the protective layer on which the heater is positioned in the opposing direction. A thickness of the shielding side portion is greater than a thickness of the heater side portion.

  • Publication number: 20220113276
Abstract: The sensor element of a gas sensor includes an element body, a surface protective layer provided at the outermost surface position of a tip portion of the element body, in the longitudinal direction of the element body, and an internal protective layer provided between the surface protective layer and the element body. The internal protective layer has a lower thermal conductivity and a higher average porosity than the surface protective layer, and is disposed between the surface protective layer and the element body. In the internal protective layer, a first protective layer portion of the internal protective layer is located on a side that faces the heater, and at least the base position is positioned closer in the longitudinal direction to the tip end of the element body than is the maximum temperature position on the element body.

  • Patent number: 7819996
Abstract: Methods of manufacturing a ceramic sheet and a gas sensing element are disclosed. At least ceramic powder, a binder and a plasticizer are blended and mixed in slurry. The slurry is formed into unfired green sheets, on which paste is printed. Each of the unfired green sheets has porosity greater than 5%. In the manufacturing methods, the unfired green sheets are pressurized with a pressure of 10 MPa at a temperature above 60° C., after which the paste is printed on surfaces of the unfired green sheets. In the method of manufacturing the gas sensing element, a shielding layer, a porous diffusion resistance layer and the unfired green sheets for a sensing layer, a reference gas airspace forming layer and a heating layer are stacked to form a stacked ceramic body, whish is fired to obtain the gas sensing element.
