  • Patent number: 9649980
Abstract: Captured images obtained beforehand by imaging ranges corresponding to peripheries of a vehicle, or processed images generated to correspond to the captured images are stored to be associated with stored road information of a preset area. A superimposed area having a clarity lower than a preset clarity threshold is set in a captured image of a periphery of the vehicle. A superimposition image is extracted among the stored images, the superimposition image being an image of a range corresponding to the captured image. A superimposed image is generated by superimposing an image in an area in the extracted superimposition image corresponding to the superimposed area on the captured mage. A video generated from the superimposed image is displayed at a position visible from a driver.

  • Patent number: 8885045
Abstract: A vehicle surrounding monitoring device include at least one camera 2 installed in an own vehicle to image a video around the own vehicle, an obstacle sensor 3 for detecting an obstacle within an imaging range of the camera 2, a pixel synthesis unit 13 for receiving a camera image imaged by the camera 2 and converting the camera image into a view point converted image seen from a virtual view point above the own vehicle, and a display device 4 for displaying the view point conversion image converted by the pixel synthesis unit 13. Simultaneously when a warning is given by a warning sound upon entry of an obstacle within an obstacle detection range of the obstacle sensor 3, an image of the obstacle detection range is synthesized with an obstacle image imaged by the camera 2 and included in the view point converted image to be in contact therewith.

  • Patent number: 8144033
Abstract: A vehicle periphery monitoring apparatus includes an image capturing device, a display device and an image processing device. The image capturing device is configured and arranged to capture a first original image of a region rearward of a vehicle and a second original image of a region laterally rearward of the vehicle. The display device includes a first display area and a second display area disposed on a lateral side of the first display area. The image processing device is configured to display a first displayed image from the first original image in the first display area and to display a second displayed image from the second original image in the second display area to form a combined image on the display device with the second displayed image being horizontally compressed from the second original image to at least a greater degree than the first displayed image.

  • Patent number: 8058980
Abstract: A vehicle periphery monitoring apparatus includes an image capturing device, a display device, a blind spot determining section, and a processing section. The image capturing device is arranged to capture an image of a region rearward of a host vehicle and an image of a region laterally rearward of the host vehicle. The processing section is configured to switch a displayed image on the display device from a first display image to a second display image upon determination of a following vehicle created blind spot region by the blind spot determining section. The first display image includes the image of the region rearward of the host vehicle, and the second display image includes at least a portion of the image of the region laterally rearward of the host vehicle that encompasses the following vehicle created blind spot region which is absent from the first display image.

  • Patent number: 7592928
Abstract: A device and method that allows any differences between the relative position of an obstacle as it appears in a bird's-eye view image and its actual relative position can be checked on the same screen. In order to display the vehicle surroundings to the driver, multiple direct images obtained from multiple pickup devices, preferably cameras, oriented in different directions are used to compose a bird's-eye view image from which the vehicle surroundings can be known at a glance. The bird's-eye view image and a direct image picked up in the direction of an obstacle with respect to the vehicle are simultaneously displayed when the obstacle is detected in the vicinity of the vehicle.
