  • Patent number: 7532370
Abstract: An optical encoder includes a light emitting unit that emits parallel light onto a plurality of marks that are arranged on an object such as a rotor or a belt, at a predetermined interval in a moving direction of the object, and a light receiving unit that receives light modulated by the marks. • Patent number: 7245863
Abstract: An image forming apparatus includes a rotating member, a drive mechanism, a scale, and a scale reading mechanism. The rotating member is configured to carry an image. The drive mechanism is configured to rotationally drive the rotating member. The scale is provided around an entire perimeter of a surface of the rotating member. The scale reading mechanism is configured to read the scale and arranged in a region where the rotating member is prevented from wavering or being distorted. A rotating drive of the rotating member is controlled based on information read by the scale reading mechanism.

  • Patent number: 6993276
Abstract: A belt apparatus having an endless belt which is wound around and movably driven by a plurality of support rollers. The speed fluctuations of the endless belt due to the variations in thickness of the endless belt are prevented. A driving apparatus for driving the endless belt has a driving roller and an opposite roller facing with each other across the endless belt, and a driving motor for driving the driving roller, the driving roller and the opposite roller being in pressure contact with each other only at both end parts in their axial direction via the endless belt and the pressure contact part forming a plane.

  • Patent number: 6947693
Abstract: An image forming apparatus including a rotary member having an image formation area, and a scale located at a position outside of the image formation area and on an inner circumference of the rotary member. Also included is a drive device configured to drive the rotary member, a developing device configured to develop an image on the image formation area of the rotary member, and a transfer device configured to transfer the image on the image formation area to a recording sheet. Further included is a sensor configured to detect the scale on the rotary member and to output a signal corresponding to the detection of the scale.

  • Patent number: 6816178
Abstract: An image forming apparatus including a drum, an optical scanning mechanism, a development mechanism, an intermediate transfer member, movement detecting mechanisms, and a controller. The intermediate transfer member is rotated in synchronism with a rotation of the drum and receives color toner image multiple times to form thereon a composite color toner image including multiple images of different color toners overlaying one to another. The movement detecting mechanisms detect respective movements of the drum and the intermediate transfer member. The controller controls respective rotations of the drum and the intermediate transfer member with results of respective detection performed by the movement detecting mechanisms.

  • Publication number: 20030052957
Abstract: An image forming apparatus includes a drum, an optical scanning mechanism, a development mechanism, an intermediate transfer member, movement detecting mechanisms, and a controller. The optical scanning mechanism deflects a laser light beam to form a latent image on a photosensitive surface of the drum. The development mechanism contains a plurality of different color toners and develops the latent image into a color toner image. The intermediate transfer member is rotated in synchronism with a rotation of the drum and receives the color toner image multiple times to form thereon a composite color toner image including multiple images of the different color toners overlaying one to another. The movement detecting mechanisms detect respective movements of the drum and the intermediate transfer belt. The controller controls respective rotations of the drum and the intermediate transfer belt with results of respective detection performed by the plurality of movement detecting mechanisms.
