  • Patent number: 8547585
Abstract: An image reading apparatus includes: a sheet feeding device; a sheet feeding control section that controls transport of an original document performed by the sheet feeding device; a reading section that reads the original document so as to output image data; a reading control section that allows the reading section to perform the reading by repeatedly outputting a reading signal to the reading section; a buffer that temporarily stores the image data; and a monitoring section that monitors a volume of the image data stored in the buffer. When the monitoring section determines that the volume of the image data is less than a predetermined first threshold value, the sheet feeding control section accelerates the transport of the original document and maintains the transport at a predetermined speed, and the reading control section starts the output of the reading signal when the transport of the original document is started.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 7, 2009
Date of Patent: October 1, 2013
    Assignee: Seiko Epson Corporation

  • Patent number: 8493632
Abstract: An image reading apparatus includes a gain setting section that sets a gain of a signal from image sensor, a reference data reading section that reads white and black reference data, an image reading section, a correction data generation section that generates correction data by synthesizing a substring extracted from white reference data with a substring extracted from black reference data, and a correction section that performs shading correction of image data using the correction data, wherein in a case where the black reference data is equal to or greater than a predetermined threshold value, the gain setting section performs resetting to lower the set gain, the reference data reading section rereads the black reference data by the reset gain, and the correction data generation section generates correction data by synthesizing the substring of the white reference data with the substring of the black reference data that has been reread.

  • Patent number: 8488212
Abstract: An image reading apparatus including, a sheet feeding device, a sheet feeding section that controls transport of an original document performed by the sheet feeding device, a reading section that outputs image data by reading the original document, a carriage that is equipped with the reading section, a carriage control section that controls movement of the carriage, a buffer that temporarily stores the image data, and a monitoring section that monitors a volume of the image data stored in the buffer. When the monitoring section determines that the volume of the image data is more than a predetermined threshold value, the sheet feeding section decelerates and stops the transport of the original document, and the carriage control section accelerates the carriage in a direction opposite to the transport of the original document during a deceleration period of the transport of the original document.
