  • Publication number: 20050165848
Abstract: Binary data to which meta-data is to be appended, and meta-data to be appended to the binary data are loaded. The meta-data has an XML format. The loaded meta-data is connected after the loaded binary data. The data synthesized in this manner is output as a single file as a whole. In this file data, since header information remains the same as that before connection of the meta-data, binary data can be reproduced by an existing browser or the like. A binary file with meta-data can be discriminated by checking if data in a correct XML format is present at the end of data.

  • Publication number: 20050015774
Abstract: An inter-program communication apparatus, and an inter-program communication method are disclosed. The inter-program communication method and apparatus may perform inter-program communication between an image correction program and an image print program. During an initialization phase, a communication path is established between the programs and the image correction program allocates an area of a shared memory to be shared with the image print program. Next, at a connection phase, the image print program uses the communication path to communicate, to the image correction program, a file number that specifies image data and a request for information about a process of decoding the image data. The image correction program performs a decoding process corresponding to the requested information on the image data specified by the file number and stores the data of the image data body and the attached information attached to the image data in the shared memory.

  • Publication number: 20040263887
Abstract: Image correction requires experience, and an image cannot be desirably corrected by an inexperienced user. Automatic image correction is done based on the analysis result of a histogram or the like. More appropriate image correction can be applied in consideration of meta data in addition to information of an image itself. A CPU acquires additional information appended to image data input from an input device, and generates correction parameters on the basis of information upon image acquisition, which is indicated by the acquired additional information. One or more image processes are applied in a predetermined order using the generated correction parameters, thus correcting image data.

  • Publication number: 20030179928
Abstract: According to the present invention, in a borderless printing mode, a printing region is determined from an original image, a region expanded outward is determined for borderless printing based on the determined region. When the thus determined region exceeds the region of the original image, an image in the surplus portion is extrapolated based on an image at end portions of the original image, and printing data is formed based on the extrapolated image and image data of the expanded region.

  • Publication number: 20030147097
Abstract: In conventional technique, a layout result is displayed on only one page, and a print result cannot be roughly observed by reduced display of all pages. For this reason, a specific image printed on a specific page cannot be overlooked, and a user must print the image while imaging an image result. When a user tries to change a layout method in the middle of a printing operation, the user must inconveniently restart the operation.

  • Publication number: 20030142954
Abstract: A reproduction description system for the purpose of controlling reproduction of plural multimedia data, for reproduction description data directly or indirectly designating reproduction time of each data. In this system, a processed data object generated by applying a set effect to a part of data object corresponding to reproduction target multimedia data, with processed data identification information indicating an attribute for discrimination of processed data, is added to the reproduction description data. Further, first and second data objects are generated from the data object and added to the reproduction description data. Then, reproduction time designation of the first and second data objects in the reproduction description data is changed so as to obtain the same reproduction image as that in a case where the set effect is applied to the data object.

  • Publication number: 20030091333
Abstract: This invention relates to an information recording apparatus, which records image data that requires high-speed access upon reading data of image data to be recorded on a recording medium, on a region that allows high-speed access, and can shorten the access time to the recorded data, and its control method. Image data, which is compression-encoded by JPEG2000, is input from input means. First recording means records image data of a predetermined resolution, obtained by reducing the resolution of the input image data, on a first recording region that allows high-speed access of a recording medium.

  • Publication number: 20020078038
Abstract: A data search apparatus searches a database in which data consisting of still image data and meta-data is registered. The data is searched based on a set search condition and the meta-data contained in each item of the data registered in the database. While conducting a search, if there is data which does not actually exist in a thumbnail list, that data is deleted from the database. If there is any data which is stored in a predetermined logical area and which is not registered in the database, that data is added to the data in the database.

  • Publication number: 20020059215
Abstract: A data search apparatus for searching search object data that contains binary data and meta-data displays a list of thumbnails that indicate search object data. When a desired thumbnail is designated as search object data from this list display, meta-data contained in the designated search object data is extracted and displayed. When desired data is designated from the displayed meta-data, the designated data is set as a keyword as a search condition. • Publication number: 20020049731
Abstract: When binary data and metadata related to the binary data are stored into a storage medium, a metadata storage area is allocated in advance on the storage medium. Then a storage area is allocated for storing the metadata from the head of the metadata storage area, and the metadata is stored into the allocated area. On the other hand, the binary data related to the metadata is stored into a general area other than the metadata storage area. Then link information which links the metadata and the binary data is written, in correspondence with the metadata, into the metadata storage area. As all the metadata are stored in the specialized storage area, the metadata attached to the binary data can be accessed at a high speed.
