  • Patent number: 8117386
Abstract: A performance history management method and system are disclosed, in which the time-series performance history such as a volume included in a storage device is managed as one time-series performance history at the time of data rearrangement or device change. The data-oriented performance history providing the logical place of storage of the data stored in the volume is generated using the storage performance monitor program based on the rearrangement history information providing the information on the history of transfer of the data stored in the rearrangement history table and the volume of the storage device by the storage structure information acquisition program, the storage structure information stored in the storage structure information table and the performance history of each volume stored in the storage performance history table by the storage performance information acquisition program. The performance history can be displayed or the performance change detected to display an alert.

  • Publication number: 20120023146
Abstract: Data migration is efficiently executed with optional timing. A file server outputs an instruction to a CPU of a storage apparatus to migrate a file belonging to Tier 1 to Tier 2 when, based on policy information, a condition for migrating the file belonging to Tier 1 to Tier 2 is fulfilled. Based on the instruction from the file server, the CPU copies the data of migration target files in Tier 1 from a page to a Tier 1 virtual page, copies the data which has been copied to the Tier 1 virtual page 114 to a Tier 2 virtual page, copies the data which has been copied to the Tier 2 virtual page to any page in Tier 2, and then overwrites and releases the Tier 1 and Tier 2 virtual pages, and migrates files belonging to Tier 1 to Tier 2.

  • Publication number: 20120023233
Abstract: For each of multiple migration policies, a server system 2 that accesses a storage apparatus 10 obtains a resource use amount needed to execute the migration. Each of the migration policies includes information for specifying a resource use amount of the server system 2 needed to execute the migration according to the policy. Then, the server system 2 allocates an amount of usable resources to each of the policies in accordance with the resource use amount obtained for the policy; in the migration according to each of the policies, allocates a certain amount of resources usable for executing the migration, to the virtual server which serves as either of a migration destination and a migration source, while determining the certain amount of resources within the amount of resources allocated to the policy; and executes the migration according to each of the policies in accordance with the resource use amount allocated to the policy.

  • Publication number: 20110292940
Abstract: A communication path is established by a sequence of nodes so that a data packet is transferred using labels each being assigned to a data link connecting each pair of adjacent nodes along the communication path. The sequence of nodes includes an origination node, one or more relay node, and a termination node, with being positioned in this order along the communication path. The origination node provides each of downstream nodes of the origination node with a path message for requesting establishment of the communication path. Each relay node, upon being provided with label assignment request information, performs label assignment processing for assigning a label to a data link connecting the relay node and an adjacent upstream node without depending on the label assignment processing performed on other nodes along the communication path so that the label assignment processing is concurrently performed on each of the downstream nodes.

  • Patent number: 8010836
Abstract: When failure occurs in a virtualization apparatus in storage network circumstances in which the virtualization apparatus is operated, a storage management server judges volume position information, cache configuration information and pair configuration information which are configuration information of the virtualization apparatus and external storage collectively to decide candidates of recovery methods of volume and candidates of recovery methods of data in the volume, so that construction of a physical volume and a pair and recovery of data are performed and an access path is then changed to the recovered physical primary volume. Consequently, change to the system configuration in which operation is performed without passing through the virtualization apparatus can be made in a short time and continuous operation can be attained.

  • Publication number: 20110167045
Abstract: A storage system capable of providing a referral target file to a file referral requestor client even if a file referral request is made before migration. When a file server 12 registers a file 26 in a storage apparatus 14, it sends metadata 28 added to the file 26 to an archive server 16, and the archive server 16 creates a stub 30 based on the received metadata 28, and registers the metadata 28 and the stub 30 in the storage apparatus 18. If the archive server 16 receives a file referral request before migration and determines that the storage destination of the file 26 is the storage apparatus 14 based on the stub 30, it requests the file server 12 to execute the migration, receives the file 26 in the storage apparatus 14 from the file server 12, and provides the file 26 to a referring client 22.

  • Patent number: 7930983
Abstract: Sewing workpiece is set on a holding frame in such a manner that a predetermined sewing reference line of the sewing workpiece forms an inclination of a given angle ? relative to a plane perpendicular to a rotation axis of the holding frame. Desired sewing pattern data are corrected in accordance with a predetermined correction function with the given angle ? as a variable. Sewing is performed onto the sewing workpiece by the holding frame being relatively rotated and linearly moved in accordance with the corrected sewing pattern data. Thus, a desired pattern corresponding to the sewing pattern data can be sewn onto the workpiece in generally parallel relation to the predetermined sewing reference line.

  • Publication number: 20110013729
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a signal processing apparatus including a processing block configured to perform a carrier shift amount detection process for detecting a carrier shift amount constituting a carrier error used for demodulating an orthogonal frequency division multiplexing signal known as the OFDM signal; and a correction block configured to correct the OFDM signal in accordance with the carrier shift amount. The OFDM signal includes a first preamble signal including subcarriers, and a second preamble signal including subcarriers of which the spacing is narrower than the spacing of the subcarriers included in the first preamble signal. The second preamble signal includes pilot signals which are known signals located at intervals of a predetermined number of subcarriers. • Patent number: 7870094
Abstract: In operation of continuous data protection, a continuous data protection method enables the user to easily select a copy data storage volume and an update request storage volume. A storage management server calculates selection conditions of candidates for a copy data storage volume and an update request storage volume based on a continuous data protection period to continuously protect a protection target volume and a disk capacity and an update access characteristic of the protection target volume to thereby select, according to the selection conditions, the candidates for the copy data and update request storage volumes. At occurrence of abnormality in data of the protection target volume, the continuous data protection system can restore data to a particular position (point of time) within the continuous data protection period.

  • Patent number: 7849285
Abstract: MAID (Massive Array of Idle Disks) technology can not stop an array group in a time zone in which if any access is made to the array group desired to be stopped. For realization of power saving, the power may be stopped in a time zone when there is no access, but frequent power-on or power-off has a possibility of shortening the life of a physical disk. In addition, if plural physical disks are collectively activated in a particular period, the power consumption of a storage system as a whole in that period is increased sharply, so that there is a possibility that the stable operation of the storage system is adversely affected. For realizing power saving, plural tasks using the storage system is by scheduled and the task execution and the power-on and power-off of a power controlled unit is controlled based on the schedule selected by a user.
