  • Patent number: 7538754
Abstract: A signal circuit of the present invention includes (i) a plurality of signal sources; (ii) a plurality of source lines; and driving means for driving the data lines, the source lines being divided into a plurality of groups, each of the groups including three source lines, adjacent groups constituting one block, wherein: the driving means selects groups which belong to a clump of blocks including a first block, and a second block adjacent to the first block so that, (i) during a first predetermined period, the driving means simultaneously selects groups that belong to the first block, and simultaneously selects groups that belong to the second block, and (ii) during a second predetermined period subsequent to the first predetermined period, the driving means selects groups one by one from groups disposed at respective ends of the clump of blocks, simultaneously selects adjacent groups that belong to different blocks, and selects remaining groups one by one.

  • Publication number: 20080309599
Abstract: In an active matrix display device having six or more data lines grouped to be connected to one output signal line of a data line drive circuit and including a color filter, the degradation of an image quality due to a parasitic capacitance or the like can be reduced effectively. In an active matrix display device including pixels of three colors having a stripe arrangement or a delta arrangement, n (n denotes a multiple of 3 that is 6 or larger) adjacent data lines DLs form one group and are connected to a source signal output line SO. The ON/OFF of a selection switch ASW provided for each data line DL is controlled so that, among the n data lines forming one group, data lines corresponding to pixels of a color with a contribution to brightness smaller than a contribution of at least another color among the three colors, e.g., blue of RGB, are connected first and last with the source signal output line SO during one horizontal period.

  • Publication number: 20070279402
Abstract: The present invention relates to a video signal line drive circuit of a display device. An object of the present invention is to, when gradation conversion is performed in the display device using an error diffusion method, provide a display with a smooth gradation change even at boundaries of display blocks. In an error diffusion operation circuit (36) of a source driver unit (302), an error diffusion process is performed for each pixel based on, in addition to image data (Da) for a display block of the source driver unit (302), image data (Da) for areas near boundaries between the display block of the source driver unit (302) and display blocks of source driver units (301, 303) in previous and subsequent stages. A video signal is generated based on error-diffused image data (Db) generated by the error diffusion process.
