  • Patent number: 5778510
Abstract: A method and apparatus for attaching and detaching a filmstrip to a film cartridge having a take-up spool rotatably mounted therein. The cartridge has an access opening for allowing film to be inserted or removed from within. The apparatus includes means for positioning the film cartridge in a predetermined position. An attachment tool is rotatably mounted to the mechanism for movement about a pivot point. The attachment tool has a generally arcuate guide member. A mechanism is provided for moving the attachment tool from a non-engaged position to a first engaged position such that a portion of the attachment tool extends into the access opening for engaging the filmstrip to the attachment tool and for moving the tool to a second engaging position for allowing the filmstrip to engage the spool. The mechanism is further provided for moving the attachment tool in a radial direction while the attachment tool extends into the access opening.

  • Patent number: 5770292
Abstract: There is a splicer bed 1 having a leader support 3 arranged on the top thereof. One opening 6 is provided in one end of the leader support 3. A knife mounting base 7 is arranged to project from the opening 6 and provided at one end with a cartridge holder 8. The knife mounting base 7 also has a leader positioning head 10 provided on the other end thereof for determining the position of a leader L. A stationary knife 11 is mounted to the leader positioning head 10. A movable knife 12 is mounted for pivotal movement to the stationary knife 11. A film holddown plate 17 is pivotably mounted to the knife mounting base 7. The knife mounting base 7 is also provided with a pair of punches 28 which are arranged slidable and can be lowered by the film holddown plate 17.

The knife mounting base has a leader positioning head provided on the other end thereof for determining the position of a leader. A stationary knife is mounted to the leader positioning head. A movable knife is mounted for pivotal movement to the stationary knife. A film holddown plate is pivotably mounted to the knife mounting base. The knife mounting base is provided with a pair of punches which are arranged slidably and can be lowered by the film holddown plate. Before the leading portion of a film is drawn out from a film cartridge loaded in the cartridge holder is held under the film holddown plate, the downward movement of the film holddown plate causes the punches to cut two notches in both side edges of the film.

  • Patent number: 5461449
Abstract: The leader attached to a web of film is cut from the film while processing the film in a photographic processing machine. Before feeding the film to the printing unit, the leader is separated from the film. At a turning point where the film feed direction extending from the film drying unit to the printing unit changes, the film is fed straight ahead and the leader is cut off the film by a cutter. The film is fed back in a reverse direction and its end is turned up by a guide. When the printing unit gets vacant, the film without the leader is fed into the printing unit.

  • Patent number: 5368688
Abstract: A method for bleaching pulp with ozone and, more specifically, to a method for bleaching pulp without deterioration of pulp quality. The starting material is a medium consistency pulp with easy handling during transfer and dewatering, namely, pulp of a consistency of about 10% by weight to 20% by weight. During the initial stage of the ozone bleaching process, the reaction velocity is maintained higher, while during the latter stage of the bleaching process, cellulose attack is prevented. Specifically, pulp bleaching is done with ozone, while the pulp consistency during the bleaching process is lowered in a stepwise manner within the range for a medium consistency pulp.

  • Patent number: 4919809
Abstract: Disclosed is a regenerated cellulose hollow fiber membrane having a hollow portion continuously penetrating in the direction of the fiber axis, a wet porosity of 60 to 95%, and an albumin sieving coefficient not larger than 0.15 at hemofiltration. The hollow fiber membrane preferably has an average pore radius in the wet state of 40 to 250 angstroms, and the mass transfer coefficient for .beta..sub.2 -microglobulin of at least 2.times.10.sup.-5 cm/sec. The hollow fiber membrane preferably contains polyethylene glycol and has the albumin sieving coefficient not larger than 0.10. The hollow fiber membrane is especially useful for hemofiltration therapy such as hemodialysis.
