Abstract: A data classification apparatus for classifying plural input data into plural categories, in which the apparatus includes a prototype select unit for selecting the prototype of the category nearest to the input data that has been read, a prototype evaluation unit for evaluating whether the selected prototype is proper, a prototype addition unit for adding a prototype in the case where the selected prototype is not proper and an internal data correcting unit for correcting at least one of the prototype and an area determining parameter specifying the size of the category area for each category in the case where the selected prototype is proper. The size of the category area can be set for each category, and therefore, the data can be properly classified and the judgment accuracy is improved in an application to fault detection and fault diagnosis.

Abstract: A purchaser apparatus stores “anonymous order information including an order ID and purchaser identity verifying information” and “purchaser identity proving secret information”. A shop apparatus stores “anonymous order information including an order ID and purchaser identity verifying information”. If necessary, a purchaser sends a request including an order ID and zero knowledge proving information that a purchaser knows the purchaser identity proving secret information, from a purchaser apparatus to a shop apparatus. A shop apparatus verifies the zero knowledge proving information, based on purchaser identity verifying information retrieved from an order ID included in the request. Therefore, the unlinkability for past use is eliminated if necessary, and inconvenience caused by the unlinkability is eliminated.

Abstract: A data processor connected to a peripheral device via a network includes an interceptor, a controller, and a peripheral device manager. The interceptor intercepts an access request for data stored in the peripheral device to issue a message indicating the interception and transmit the access request to the peripheral device. The controller determines, upon receipt of the message from the interceptor, whether to perform authentication based on configuration information of the peripheral device. Additionally, the controller determines, when authentication is to be performed, a mode for obtaining authentication data depending on whether an authentication library is installed. The peripheral device manager retrieves the configuration information from the peripheral device and transmits the configuration information to the controller.

Consequently, the store apparatus, serving as a service provider, need not manage personal information. This enables a user to remain anonymous. Further, the manager apparatus handles the article the name of which is kept secret. This makes it possible to protect the privacy of the contents of the order from the manager apparatus.
