    Abstract: A cerebral spinal fluid diagnostic reagent for herpes simplex virus encephalitis consists essentially of the glycoprotein derived from Type 1 herpes simplex virus (HSV-1) having an approximate molecular weight of 132,000 which is antigenically reactive with HSV-1 antiserum. The reactive protein is in radiolabeled form and comprises at least 50% of the total radiolabeled protein present in the reagent.
