Abstract: A system and method for training a dog is provided which teaches the dog to ignore stimuli, respond to a person when called by name, retreat, and socialize, as core behaviors. For each core behavior, the method comprises progressively challenging the dog and introducing a distinct auditory signal associated with each of the core behaviors so that when the auditory signal is given, the dog performs the associated core behavior. Additional or superfluous use of auditory signals is reduced or altogether avoided to prevent the dog's desensitization to each auditory signal. As such, the system for training a dog comprises a dog, a boundary, a valued item, and an auditory signal which may each be variously engaged according to the methods disclosed herein.

Abstract: The present invention to provides a dual leash for walking two dogs with a single compact leash while preventing entangling of the individual cables. Horizontal positioning of the spools achieves a more compact design as well as a new way to combine the rotation of the housing with a lock feature. The key to a compact design is to maximize the spool size for proper spring steel retraction functionality and maximization on cord length. Preferably, the companion animal is a canine. Another object of the present invention is to provide individual cable retraction with a non-entangle feature.

More specifically, the present invention pertains to a tennis ball throwing apparatus with an elongated shaft that may be folded in half. The shaft of the throwing apparatus has a claw-like structure with a plurality of elongate members attached or formed at one end for releasing the ball when throwing and picking up a ball without the user making direct contact with the ball and a partial spherical structure attached to or formed at the opposite end of the shaft for storing an extra ball.
