  • Patent number: 6573222
Abstract: The present invention is an imaging element which includes a support, at least one imaging layer superposed on the support and a protective topcoat superposed farthest from the support. The topcoat includes a binder and lubricant droplets. The lubricant droplets are composed of a lubricant and a water soluble polymer containing heterocyclic aromatic nitrogen groups wherein the droplets are surrounded by a particulate stabilizer. The present invention is also directed to the lubricant droplets.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 11, 2000
Date of Patent: June 3, 2003
    Assignee: Eastman Kodak Company
Inventors: Mridula Nair, Tamara K. Osburn, Louis J. Sorriero

  • Patent number: 6001549
Abstract: The present invention is an imaging element which includes a support, an image forming layer superposed on the support; and an antistatic layer superposed on the support. The antistatic layer includes electrically conductive particles at a 10-60 volume percent and microgel particles. The microgel particles are composed of 25 to about 80 weight percent of an oleophilic monomer, 5 to about 45 weight percent of a hydrophilic monomer, and 0 to 20 weight percent of a crosslinking monomer having at least two addition polymerizable groups. In an alternative embodiment the antistatic layer also includes a binder.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 27, 1998
Date of Patent: December 14, 1999
    Assignee: Eastman Kodak Company
Inventors: Mridula Nair, Lloyd A. Lobo, Tamara K. Osburn
  • Patent number: 5976776
Abstract: The present invention is an imaging element including a support, at least one imaging layer, and an antistat layer. The antistatic layer includes an antistatic agent dispersed in a polyolefin binder.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 1, 1997
Date of Patent: November 2, 1999
    Assignee: Eastman Kodak Company
Inventors: Mridula Nair, Tamara K. Osburn, Gustav R. Apai, II, Sylvia A. Gardner
  • Patent number: 5928848
Abstract: The present invention is a photographic element including a support, having on one side thereof at least one silver halide emulsion layer, and having on the other side an antistatic layer, and a protective overcoat. The protective overcoat is farthest from the support; and is a continuous polyolefin coating.
    Type: Grant

Date of Patent: July 27, 1999
    Assignee: Eastman Kodak Company
Inventors: Mridula Nair, Tamara K. Osburn, Charles H. Appell
  • Patent number: 5891612
Abstract: A photographic element is disclosed comprising a film support, at least one light-sensitive layer, a highly loaded layer which contains more than 30 volume percent of non-film forming particulate material, and upper and lower aqueous coated adjacent layers which are next to the highly loaded layer, the upper adjacent layer being further from the support and the lower adjacent layer being closer to the support relative to the highly loaded layer, each adjacent layer having a film forming binder content of greater than 70 volume percent, and the lower adjacent layer being at least 1.0 micron thick.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 28, 1997
Date of Patent: April 6, 1999
    Assignee: Eastman Kodak Company
