    Abstract: New succinic acid derivatives of the formula ##STR1## wherein A represents hydrogen, a naphthoxyethyl group of formula (b), ##STR2## or a substituted phenoxyethyl group of the formula ##STR3## and in this latter formula R stands for hydrogen or C.sub.1-4 alkyl,R.sup.1 is hydrogen, halo or C.sub.1-4 alkyl, andR.sup.2 and R.sup.3 each stand for hydrogen or halo,and agriculturally acceptable salts thereof are prepared by reacting succinic anhydride with an aryloxyethanol of the formula ##STR4## The new succinic acid drivatives of the formula (I) possess plant growth regulating properties.
