Patent number: 9822748Abstract: An injector has an injector body including an injector cavity defining an inner wall and a longitudinal axis, an injector orifice and a plunger slidably disposed within the injector cavity. The plunger has an outer portion and an inner portion at different locations longitudinally along the plunger. The inner portion has a plurality of surface portions including a guiding portion configured to substantially mate with the inner wall of the injector cavity, guide the plunger to slidably move in a direction along the longitudinal axis and substantially prevent the plunger from laterally translating within the injector cavity. The plurality of surface portions also includes a restriction portion configured to form a restrictive cavity between an exterior surface of the inner portion and the inner wall of the injector cavity axially along a length of the inner portion.Type: GrantFiled: May 31, 2014Date of Patent: November 21, 2017Assignee: Cummins Inc.Inventors: Marian Trocki, Donald J. Benson, Tamas Rauznitz, Vijaygandeeban Subbaihaannadurai, Deepak Sahini

Patent number: 9719476Abstract: A fuel injector device for injecting fuel into a combustion chamber of an internal combustion engine is provided in which the fuel injector includes a body having an upper chamber and a lower chamber, an annular shoulder between the upper and lower chambers, an armature assembly disposed in the upper chamber, and a pilot valve seat having an inlet orifice disposed in the lower chamber and an outlet orifice disposed in the upper chamber. The pilot valve seat has a shaft extending between the outlet and inlet orifice and an angled shoulder between the outlet and inlet orifice. The angle shoulder of the shaft prevents fuel flow around the shaft between the upper and lower chambers. The armature assembly is configured to move to an upward position and to a downward position, the shaft also being disposed within the armature assembly to guide the armature assembly between the upward and downward positions.Type: GrantFiled: July 14, 2014Date of Patent: August 1, 2017Assignee: Cummins Inc.Inventor: Tamas Rauznitz

Patent number: 9638151Abstract: A flow-through fitting and filter assembly is provided including a fitting body with a cavity, and a filter coupled to fitting body and positioned within the cavity. The filter includes a filter support and a filter element mounted on the filter support. A first end portion of the filter support is of a generally cylindrical cup shape including an outer annular wall in close sliding relationship the inner wall forming a fitting cavity to provide a guiding function while passages in the first end portion provide relief of fluid from the end of the cavity. A second end portion of the filter support includes an outer annular surface having an outer annular diameter greater than the inner annular diameter of the inner annular surface of the fitting body to create an interference fit and a fluid seal.Type: GrantFiled: January 7, 2011Date of Patent: May 2, 2017Assignee: Cummins Filtration, Inc.Inventors: Romaine Edwards, Scott Salsburey, Tamas Rauznitz, Mike Yost
