  • Patent number: 11158203
Abstract: A combination of knowledge representation and retrieval, assessments and personalization for a tutoring platform that provides an automated phased word exposition method for vocabulary learning and enable learners to learn words (or any learning objective) with sufficient proficiency and without excessive repetition. The phased learning objective method implements a moving average model that models the learner across multiple dimensions (e.g. reading, listening, writing, speaking) such that the platform is confident of the learner's understanding, while using minimal assessment doses, and such that the understanding transfers across experiences. The method implemented provides for multiple learning and assessment activities for a learning objective and leverages the same learner model for each learning dimension. Each word of a word set passes through learning and assessment-only phases for statistically significant evidence of learning.

  • Patent number: 11055333
Abstract: A processor extracts a sentence from a portion of text. The sentence includes one or more words. A concreteness score is determined for each word in the sentence. A set of concrete words is determined based upon a comparison of the concreteness score for each word and a predetermined threshold. A grammatical dependency relationship is determined between the one or more words of the sentence. One or more subsets of search terms is determined based upon the grammatical dependency relationship. Each member of the one or more subsets of search terms is a member of the set of concrete words. One or more images is retrieved from a repository based on the one or more subsets of search terms.

  • Patent number: 10970729
Abstract: A data server receives multiple requests for data cubes that include data related to a user-specified subject matter. The requests are aggregated into an aggregated request, and an initial data cube is retrieved based on the aggregated request. Upon determining that the initial data cube fails to provide requisite data needed by the aggregated request due to data being missing from the initial data cube, the missing data is located and identified as augmentation data. The initial data cube and the augmentation data are sent to senders of the multiple requests for data cubes. Instructions are transmitted to install the initial data cube and the one or more of the sets of data into an electronic device that has been predetermined to be related to the user-specified subject-matter, the installation improves a functioning of the electronic device by modifying an operation of the electronic device.

  • Patent number: 10936647
Abstract: Generating a preferred media playlist based on a determined activity type. A media item is played from a media library. A computing device collects metadata regarding the played media item. The computing device receives sensor data from one or more sensors. The computing device determines an activity type based upon the received sensor data. The computing device generates a media item record comprising a media item identification for the media item, the metadata collected regarding the played media item, and the determined activity type. The media item records are ranked based upon the metadata regarding the played media and the determined activity type. • Patent number: 10901726
Abstract: Methods and apparatus, including computer program products, implementing and using techniques for identifying program code changes causing a changed visual appearance of a graphical user interface of a computer application. A code change is received for the computer application in a build system. The code change results in a changed computer application. The changed computer application is run and screenshots of the visual appearance of the graphical user interface are captured and saved during the run. Differences between the saved screenshots are detected to identify changes in the visual appearance of the graphical user interface. The identified changes in the visual appearance are correlated with a particular section of program code causing the changes in the visual appearance.
