  • Publication number: 20080311063
Abstract: There is a method for imparting curl to eyelashes. The method has the step of applying to the eyelashes an anhydrous liquid composition having the following: a) an organic solvent and b) an alkyl cycloalkylacrylate copolymer soluble or dispersible in the solvent. The organic solvent is present in an amount sufficient to dissolve or disperse the alkyl cycloalkylacrylate copolymer. The alkyl cycloalkylacrylate copolymer is present at about 0.1 wt % to about 90 wt % based on the total weight of the composition.

  • Publication number: 20080160097
Abstract: There is disclosed a method of imparting a cosmetic or therapeutic benefit to a topical surface. The method has the steps of a) providing a polymer powder having a plurality of substantially nonporous polymer particles with a number average particles size of about 0.1 to about 0.5 microns in diameter; b) providing a liquid cosmetic or therapeutic composition in the form selected from the group consisting of a solution, dispersion, suspension, and an emulsion in which the liquid composition has one or more cosmetic or therapeutic actives therein and is metastable; c) contacting the polymer powder with the liquid composition so that the liquid composition is entrained so as to form an impregnated powder; and d) rubbing the impregnated powder on the topical surface such that at least a substantial portion of the liquid composition is released from the impregnated powder at the topical surface. There are other methods and processes disclosed.

  • Patent number: 6450177
Abstract: An applicator or brush having a twisted wire core and a bristle portion that has a square cross-section. The brush portion is formed from a plurality of plastic filaments. Each plastic filament is crimped medially of its ends by the wire core. The crimping action causes the filament ends to form bristle ends that flare outwardly in various directions from the wire core so as to provides a uniform bristle end distribution throughout the bristle portion. The filament density is about 45 to 60 filaments per helical turn. Each filament has a hollow central core from which two or more bent flanges extend. The area along the central core between adjacent flanges holds mascara by surface tension.
