The memory is operable to store a request to move data from a first jurisdiction and at least one action item associated with the request to move data, the request to move data comprising (a) a data type, (b) a jurisdiction from which the data is to be moved, and (c) a purpose for moving the data. The processor is configured to receive an update to the request to move data, the update to the request changing at least one of the data type, the jurisdiction from which the data is to be moved, or the purpose for moving the data. The processor is configured to identify a set of data movement rules based at least in part upon the updated request to move data. The processor is configured to apply at least one rule of the set of data movement rules to identify an update to the at least one action item to be completed in order to comply at least in part with the regulations.
