    Abstract: A method of playing a card game based broadly on the game of WAR wherein the higher card wins when a player card in matched against a dealer card. The game includes dealing multiple cards such as 3, 5, 7, etc. to each of the dealer and player for matching against each other. The player must win a majority of the individual card matches to win. In the event of a tie a War Round is declared and three cards are dealt face down to the player and to the dealer, and one card dealt face up to both the player and the dealer. If the dealer wins the War Round by having a greater value up card the game is terminated. If the player wins, bonus points are awarded to the player based upon the value of the face down cards. Greater bonus points are also awarded if the player wins the War Round with an Ace. Another secondary Bonus Round is played if the player wins the War Round with a Joker. The War Round and initial multiple card game are temporarily interrupted, but maintained while the Bonus Round is played.

    Abstract: A slot style gaming machine includes a variety of features which make the game played thereon more attractive to potential game players. The machine includes a video display screen for viewing a computer generated game. A value-adding symbol may randomly appear on the screen to activate a pay-related event, such as creation of a pay line, combining of two or more pay lines to increase the award value, a wager increase option, a win pattern change, progressive play and so forth. Symbols and display blocks among other elements also move in distinctive ways on the screen. Rings which include the display blocks may be displayed on the screen and may rotate and flip. The symbols and display blocks may move along an arcuate path along the rings and undergo a shuffling process. Symbol blocks may separate from one another and pay lines may move on the screen.

    Abstract: A gaming machine includes a game playable on a video display screen on which are displayable a set of reels with display blocks on each reel. Symbols are displayable on the display blocks to make up standard and distinctive pay lines. In one aspect of the game, primary symbols are displayable in the display blocks for forming pay lines and secondary symbols are displayable in the display blocks and have an inactivated state and an activated state in which they may form pay lines with the primary symbols or by themselves or may add value to a pay line. Another aspect of the game includes a secondary reel which is typically hidden until activated so that symbols on the secondary reel may also form pay lines with the primary symbols or by themselves or may add value to a pay line.

The shape of the pay line is preferably thematically associated with the symbols making up the pay line. A given pay line typically includes two or more symbols in a single one of a plurality of reels on the video screen. A pay line may also include symbols only on some of the reels. Two or more pay lines may be displayed simultaneously and may share a common symbol, intersect one another or cross one another. Bonuses may be awarded when two or more pay lines are displayed, sometimes with a requirement that the pay lines overlap or are on the same reels.
