The aqueous coating composition includes an emulsion polymer, the polymer including a copolymerized ethylenically-unsaturated monomer having a pendant group selected from the group consisting of acetoacetate, acetoacetamide, cyanoacetate, and cyanoacetamide; a polyether monoamine or polyether diamine having primary or secondary amino functionality; and an alkyl polyglycoside. And a method for extending the open time of an aqueous coating composition by forming the composition and applying the composition to a substrate is also provided.
