  • Patent number: 5926342
Abstract: In a dynamic pressure bearing apparatus having a fixed shaft, dynamic pressure generating grooves formed at least on one side of circularly facing surfaces of a rotor and of the fixed shaft which is rotatably meshed with the rotor, a radial bearing formed in an axial direction and a thrust bearing is formed by one end of the fixed shaft and axially facing surfaces of the rotor, the rotor is rotatably supported against the fixed shaft by air dynamic pressure which is generated in the radial bearing and the thrust bearing. The radial dynamic pressure bearing generating grooves are formed on the radial bearing in a dynamic pressure groove shape which pumps air pressure toward the thrust bearing side. An air guide hole is formed in the fixed shaft from the one end to another end of the fixed shaft.

  • Patent number: 5806987
Abstract: A hydrodynamic bearing apparatus which includes at least two hydrodynamic bearing sections for rotatably supporting a shaft member and a cylindrical member, where the bearing sections constitute a continuous bearing clearance. A hydrodynamic pressure generating portion is provided for generating a hydrodynamic pressure in a lubricant which is filled in the bearing clearance. One hydrodynamic generating portion is shaped asymmetrically to move the lubricant in one direction. Two capillary sealing sections are also provided. One capillary sealing section is positioned downstream in a moving direction of the lubricant and is configured such that the lubricant moves by a predetermined amount to cancel a differential pressure which is generated at the hydrodynamic bearing sections.

  • Patent number: 5791785
Abstract: A hydrodynamic bearing apparatus for use in a spindle motor. The bearing includes at least two hydrodynamic bearing sections for supporting a rotary member with respect to a fixed member, a hydrodynamic pressure generating mechanism, a space between the two hydrodynamic bearing sections, a lubricant, two capillary sealing sections, and a lubricant reservoir. In the hydrodynamic bearing apparatus, the hydrodynamic pressure generating mechanism is positioned at the hydrodynamic bearing sections, and the capillary sealing section of the two capillary sealing sections has a space capacity which allows for an increased amount of lubricant. The lubricant is moved by a predetermined amount in one direction by a differential pressure generated at the hydrodynamic bearing sections when the rotary member rotates.

  • Patent number: 5743656
Abstract: A hydrodynamic bearing apparatus comprises at least two hydrodynamic bearing units which rotatably support a rotation member against a fixed member by hydrodynamic pressure of a lubricant filled in a bearing space. A thrust plate is adhesively bonded on one of the rotation member and fixed member to support the rotation member in an axial direction. The thrust plate and rotation member or fixed member form a junction. A mechanical bonding device bonds the thrust plate onto one of the rotation member and fixed member. A sealing agent prevents the lubricant from leaking from the junction between the thrust plate and the rotation member or fixed member. The sealing agent fills a space that communicates with the junction.

  • Patent number: 5667308
Abstract: A dynamic pressure bearing device for use in a motor including a shaft and a frame. Two bearings interconnect the shaft and the frame of the motor. The two bearings contain a noncompressible fluid. A mechanism for minimizing axial vibrational movement of the shaft is part of the bearing device. In one arrangement, the mechanism is a device connected to the shaft, such that a narrow gap is defined between an end of the device and the frame to provide a flow resistance to the noncompressible fluid. The device connected to the shaft maintains a decreasing width to minimize a loss of torque in the motor.

  • Patent number: 5667309
Abstract: A bearing seal system having a bag structure in a first embodiment wherein (1) oil is filled in a tapering bag space section positioned from the bag section to an exit section; (2) the space in the tapering space section is kept to 0.8 mm or less the slope angle of the outer end of the tapering space section is kept to 45.degree. or less. In this way, oil is kept from air and a stable no-leak status is made possible; (3) the capacity of the tapering space section is made larger than that of a bag section or a radial bearing section in order to retain oil in the bearing section at all times and to prevent oil from leaking as a result of variations in the quantity of oil injected or in the capacity; and (4) the space ratio of the inner end and the outer end of the tapering space section is made larger to prevent oil from moving to the bearing section even when air migrates into the oil surface.

  • Patent number: 5552653
Abstract: In an electric motor, in order to simplify the structure and to remarkably improve the T/N characteristic value, yoke plates mounted on a field magnet are so shaped that the total magnetic flux of the field magnet is collectively extended to the iron core of the armature with its direction repeatedly reversed. That is, in the motor, the multi-polarization is substantially obtained by designing it in such a manner that the total magnetic flux of the field magnet is not dispersed but concentrated. Hence, in the motor, unlike a conventional motor, the field magnet is not subjected to multi-polar magnetization, and the armature side is simplified in structure, and the magnetic flux from the field magnet is maximaly utilized at all times, so that the number of magnetic poles and the effective flux .PHI. are both increased.
