  • Publication number: 20090209418
Abstract: Silica gel is impregnated as an impregnating substance into pores of an activated carbon having mesopores and macropores. Since the mesopores and the macropores are impregnated with the silica gel, they are made narrow and small whereby a pore size ratio within a range of 1 to 10 nm is increased.

  • Patent number: 6109225
Abstract: An engine valve timing control device is disclosed, in which the valve overlap amount is controlled according to the fuel property, thereby keeping the drivability unchanged even when the fuel is changed. A shortage of engine output and cold hesitation are prevented at the same time when the engine temperature is low. The device is for controlling the valve operation characteristic of an internal combustion engine, and comprises a variable valve mechanism capable of changing the valve overlap amount and a control unit for controlling the operating amount of the variable valve mechanism in accordance with the engine operating conditions. The property of the fuel burnt in the engine is determined as light, intermediate or heavy.

  • Patent number: 5732681
Abstract: The internal combustion engine fuel property detecting apparatus of the present invention can realize the fuel property detection which is free from the influence of the wall surface fuel deposit amount before the transient time and to prevent the erroneous determination. If fuel cut-off is carried out on fulfillment of the fuel cut-off conditions (S220), it is judged whether or not transition to the acceleration state has occurred within the prescribed time t0 after completion of the fuel cut-off (S260). On determination of transition to the acceleration state, the transition amount .increment.AF in the detected values of the air-fuel ratio sensor 85 (S270-S300) and the fuel supplied is determined as whether or not a heavy fuel (S310-S320).

  • Patent number: 4432316
Abstract: A HC emission controlling apparatus for use in an automobile is equipped with a catalytic type emission disposal converter (system) as an anti-pollution measure, having a deceleration emission controlling device such as a dash pot engageable with the throttle valve lever and connected to a vacuum control device. The apparatus includes a deceleration emission controlling device connected through a vacuum-transmitted valve to the vacuum controlling device, the vacuum controlling device being provided with a change-over valve which is adapted to be actuated by a temperature-sensitive actuating member. The change-over valve brings the vacuum-transmitted valve into communication with the atmosphere and with a vacuum source, respectively, before and after the warming up of the engine.
