  • Patent number: 5917455
Abstract: An antenna assembly having an operating frequency and a vertical radiation pattern with a main lobe axis defining a downtilt angle with respect to the earth's surface. The antenna assembly comprises a plurality of antennas in first, second, and third antenna groups disposed along a backplane, the backplane having a longitudinal axis along which the antennas are disposed, and a phase adjustment mechanism disposed between the second and third antenna groups, such that adjustment of the phase adjustment mechanism results in variation of the vertical radiation pattern downtilt angle.

  • Patent number: 5896107
Abstract: A dual polarized aperture coupled patch antenna system having a back plate, a ground plane and a patch plane. The patch plane has a conductive patch layer forming a plurality of conductive patches on one side. The ground plane has a slot layer on one side and a microstrip feed network layer on the opposite side. The ground plate is positioned between the patch plane and the back plate, with the slot layer confronting the conductive patch layer of the patch plane and the microstrip feed network layer confronting the back plate. The slot layer comprises a conducting coating having a plurality of intersecting polarization slot pairs etched into the coating. The microstrip feed network layer comprises two feed lines and a plurality of feed probes. Two feed probe members are coupled to each conductive patch through one arm of each slot pair and one feed probe member is coupled to each conductive patch through each other slot pair.

  • Patent number: 5724051
Abstract: An antenna assembly having a base plate and at least one integrally formed antenna array mounted thereon, the antenna array having a pair of dipole antennas and an elongated transmission line, one of the dipole antennas being integrally formed with each end of the transmission line, with each dipole antenna comprising a pair of oppositely directed, elongated dipole arms, one of the arms being continuous in a direction transverse to its length in plan view and the other of the arms comprising a pair of spaced apart arm elements in a direction transverse to its length in plan view, and for each of the dipole antennas, mounting means integrally formed with each of the pair of dipole arms for securing the antenna array to the antenna assembly. A method of forming the antenna from a blank and by a series of folding steps is also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 5629713
Abstract: A horizontally polarized antenna array having extended E-plane beam width, and a method for accomplishing beam width extension. In one embodiment of the invention, an antenna array is provided that comprises a driven dipole element mounted to a conductive means forming a ground plane, the driven dipole element having opposing arms, and a pair of collinear parasitic dipole elements disposed on opposite sides of the driven dipole element, the parasitic dipole elements having opposing arms inclined toward the ground plane such that the opposing arms of each parasitic dipole element are perpendicular to one another.

  • Patent number: 5572222
Abstract: A microstrip patch antenna array incorporating a plurality of spaced-apart patch radiating elements electromagnetically coupled to a microstrip line conductively coupled to a source of signals. Both the spaced-apart patch radiating elements and the microstrip line are located on the same side of an adjacent conductive substrate. The microstrip patch radiating elements are arranged in a linear co-planar array electromagnetically excited by the field created by the air substrated microstrip line passing adjacent thereto.

  • Patent number: 5307075
Abstract: A monolithically loaded microstrip antenna is provided for a communications function, such as a cellular telephone base station. The antenna includes a ground plane and a group of stacked, planar elements. A director element having a rectangular configuration together with monolithic load tabs is connected to a feed line and spaced above the ground plane. A first director element is spaced above the driven element and has lesser length and width dimensions than the driven element. A second director element is spaced above the first director element and likewise has lesser length and width dimensions than the driven element. A group of eight of the antennas are positioned in a column to form an antenna array which has substantial vertical polarization, a relatively wide horizontal beam width, approximately 60.degree. and a relatively narrow vertical beam width, approximately 8.0.degree.. The antenna array has a center frequency of 885 Mhz and a bandwidth of approximately 230 Mhz.

  • Patent number: 4810953
Abstract: An electronic interface device is provided for use between a sensor and a display unit, including a controllable generator which delivers a signal to the display unit and is connected to an input of a comparator whose other input receives the output signal of the sensor. The output of the comparator controls the up counting or the down counting of an up-down counter of clock pulses. The sign output of the up-down counter controls the generator.

  • Patent number: 4760736
Abstract: An on board indicator for vehicles is provided, including a sensor detecting a physical magnitude to be indicated, connected to a display device through a low pass filter whose cut off frequency is increased for a given time after switch on of the vehicle, by appropriate circuitry. A threshold detector controlling an alarm device is connected to the output of the low pass filter. Such an indicator may be used for indicating the fuel level in the reservoir of a motor vehicle, for example.
