  • Patent number: 8581679
Abstract: Switches that are actuated through exposure to a magnetic field are described. A mobile element of a switch includes one or more anchoring members that are in electrical contact with one of the conductive portions. The mobile element also has a beam that is attached to the one or more anchoring members. The beam can be attached to the one or more anchoring members by flexures. The beam has an end portion that is configured to move toward the other conductive portion when exposed to an external force, such as a magnetic field. Various configurations of anchoring members may significantly decrease initial upward beam deformation upon manufacture of the mobile element, resulting in an increased sensitivity upon exposure to a magnetic field. Methods for manufacturing switches that exhibit increased sensitivity to magnetic fields are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 8174342
Abstract: The invention relates to microelectromechanical systems (MEMS), and more particularly, to MEMS switches using magnetic actuation. The MEMS switch may be actuated with no internal power consumption. The switch is formed in an integrated solid state MEMS technology. The MEMS switch is micron and/or nanoscale, very reliable and accurate. The MEMS switch can be designed into various architectures, e.g., a cantilever architecture and torsion architecture. The torsion architecture is more efficient than a cantilever architecture.

  • Publication number: 20110210808
Abstract: Switches that are actuated through exposure to a magnetic field are described. Such switches include conductive portions that are electrically separate from one another when in an open switch configuration. A mobile element of a switch includes one or more anchoring members that are in electrical contact with one of the conductive portions. The mobile element also has a beam that is attached to the one or more anchoring members. The beam can be attached to the one or more anchoring members by flexures. In some cases, the beam includes a plurality of strips. The beam has an end portion that is configured to move toward the other conductive portion when exposed to an external force, such as a magnetic field. When the mobile element electrically contacts the other conductive portion of the substrate, an electrical pathway is established between the conductive portions, giving rise to a closed switch configuration.

  • Publication number: 20070249975
Abstract: The present invention discloses a portable ball-containing massage device, which comprises: multiple balls and a body. The body has at least one accommodation surface, which those balls are installed to and can rotate within. Multiple retainers are installed between the accommodation surface and the balls and used to accommodate the balls. The curvature of the accommodation surface and the sizes of the balls may vary to match some portion of the human body. The body may be a base with a handle, a column with a slip-proof element, or a fabric, which can separately provide a holding function or a large-area massage effect for the user.

  • Patent number: 5864983
Abstract: A flytrap including a casing having a trapping area adapted for holding a bait for attracting flies, a flapping mechanism, a holding-down mechanism, and an intermittent action control device, wherein when the driving mechanism is turned on, the holding-down mechanism is moved by a driven member of the driving mechanism to hold down the flapping mechanism, and the intermittent action control device starts counting a predetermined length of time when the driven member is turned to switch off a power control switch in cutting off power supply from the driving mechanism, and the driving mechanism is started again when the counting is ended, causing the the holding-down mechanism to be released from the flapping mechanism, permitting the flapping mechanism to flap attracted flies with a flyflap.
