  • Patent number: 5185377
Abstract: Pharmaceutical compositions, which comprise a compound of the general formula I ##STR1## in which X is oxygen, sulfur or -CH.sub.2 -, Y is chlorine or bromine, Z is an SO.sub.2 H, NO.sub.2 or C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl radical, r is a number from 0 to 3, o is a number from 0 to 3, p is the number 0 or 1, m is the number 1 or 2 and n is the number 0 or 1, have having a lipoxygenase- and prostaglandin H synthase-inhibiting action. The compositions are useful in particular for the local (topical) or inhalative treatment of inflammatory, allergic and spasmolytic diseases, as well as psoriasis, bronchial asthma and diseases with disturbances in cell proliferation.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 4, 1991
Date of Patent: February 9, 1993
    Assignee: Ciba-Geigy Corporation
Inventors: Tankred Schewe, Helmut Luther, Dentscho Jordanov
  • Patent number: 5079265
Abstract: Improved bioavailability, particularly when the drug is administered orally, of the active ingredient 2-hydroxy-5-methyllaurophenoxime (HMLO) of a pharmaceutical preparation is achieved by improving the absorption of the active ingredient HMLO significantly by including bile acids in the preparation. As bile acids, it is possible to use, for example, desoxychloic acid or dehydrocholic acid or a mixture of the two in the form of their salts.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: February 7, 1990
Date of Patent: January 7, 1992
Assignee: VEB Fahlberg-List Chemische und pharmazeutische Fabriken

  • Patent number: 4816487
Abstract: New 1-(2-hydroxylaryl)-alkane-1-on-oximes, procedure for their preparation, and their applicability to pharmaceutical preparations. One purpose is to develop 1-(2-hydroxyaryl)-alkane-1-on-oximes with desirable pharmacological properties. The new compounds of Formula I ##STR1## are characterised by pharmacologically valuable properties, in particular by anti-asthmatic, anti-anaphylactic, antiphlogistic, antihypertensive, spasmolytic, antirheumatic, and antithrombotic, potentials and are applicable in human and veterinary medicine to therapy of asthma bronchiale and other allergic diseases, various kinds of inflammatory and rheumatic diseases, and thrombosis.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 14, 1985
Date of Patent: March 28, 1989
    Assignee: Humboldt-Universitaet zu Berlin

  • Patent number: 4670469
Abstract: Hydroxamic acids, pharmaceutical preparations containing the same, new .omega.(2'-naphthoxy)-alkylhydroxamic acids as well as a process for their production are disclosed. The new compounds display antiasthmatic and further pharmacologically valuable characteristics. They are prepared by reacting the corresponding carboxylic acid ester or amide with hydroxylamine or its salt under the described conditions into compounds of Formula I,R--CO--NH--OH.The compounds of Formula I are useful in human and veterinary medicine as medicaments the active principal of which is the inhibition of lipoxygenase, thus as antiasthmatic, antianaphylactic, antiphlogistic, antirheumatic and antithrombotic preparations.
