  • Publication number: 20160127246
Abstract: There is disclosed a network communication system that includes data sources and of switches. Each of the data sources and switches is interconnected by a packet-switched network, and is synchronized to a common clock. The system also includes a network controller that maintains records of network characteristics including a transmission delay for each of the data sources and switches, and a transmission delay for links in the packet-switched network. The network controller processes the network characteristics to generate, for each of a plurality of packets of a given type of traffic: a path from a particular data source, and through at least one particular switch, and a schedule of departure times at each of the particular data source and the at least one particular switch. The path and the schedule are optimized to meet jitter requirements for the given type of traffic.

  • Publication number: 20150244583
Abstract: Embodiments are provided herein for creating virtual networks with service chains, such as n-tier networks, in the cloud. In an embodiment, a network diagram for a virtual network is received from a user via a graphical user interface. The network diagram comprises elements that represent virtual or physical network components. The network components include switches, routers, firewalls, links, service appliances, virtual machines, servers, or other network components. Upon successfully validating the network diagram, via a validation step, the network diagram is compiled into application programming interface (API) calls ready for execution. The executed APIs are used to establish the virtual network on a physical network infrastructure. The virtual network comprises virtual network components corresponding to the elements or the network diagram.

  • Publication number: 20150230143
Abstract: A measurement initiation method for inter-frequency/inter-system cell reselection and UE thereof are described. A signal quality value of a current serving cell is obtained for many times, and a signal quality value smaller than or equal to a threshold of measurement initiation of a neighbouring inter-frequency/inter-system cell is stored storing until L signal quality values are obtained; a mean signal quality value is obtained by calculation according to the obtained L signal quality values, and when the mean signal quality value is greater than a signal quality reference threshold, UE initiates the measurement of the neighbouring inter-frequency/inter-system cell. By using the method and UE, the problem that UE frequently initiates measurement of a neighbouring inter-frequency/inter-system cell even when UE does not move or moves a little can be solved, the power of the UE can be saved, and the radiation produced by the UE on a mobile user can be reduced.

  • Publication number: 20150229618
Abstract: Embodiments are provided for securing source routing using public key based digital signature. If a protected source route is tampered with, a public key based method allows a downstream node to detect the tampering. The method is based on using digital signatures to protect the integrity of source routes. When creating a source route for a traffic flow, a designated network component computes a digital signature and adds the digital signature to the packets. When the packets are received at a node on the route, the node uses the digital signature and a public key to verify the source route and determines accordingly whether the source route has been tampered with. If tampering is detected, the receiving node stops the forwarding of the packets.

  • Patent number: 8316229
Abstract: According to one embodiment of the invention, a method is deployed for loading a user CA certificate into the trusted certificate storage of a network device. The method comprises a number of operations. A first operation involves a downloading of addressing information. Thereafter, a communication session is established using the addressing information for retrieval of a bootstrapping digital certificate that can be digitally verified by the network device using its factory settings. Keying information is extracted from the bootstrapping digital certificate and the keying information can be used to verify that the communication session is between the network device and a certificate server being different than a source for the addressing information. Upon verification that the network device is in communication with the certificate server, the user CA certificate is downloaded from the certificate server using a secure channel that is established based on the bootstrapping digital certificate.
