  • Patent number: 9659200
Abstract: A scanning code symbol reading system includes an analog scan data signal processor for producing digitized data signals, wherein during each laser beam scanning cycle, a light collection and photo-detection module generates an analog scan data signal corresponding to a laser scanned code symbol, an analog scan data signal processor/digitizer processes the analog scan data signal to generate digital data signals corresponding thereto, and a synchronized digital gain control module automatically processes the digitized data signals in response to start of scan (SOS) signals generated by a SOS detector. The synchronized digital gain control module generates digital control data which is transmitted to the analog scan data signal processor for use in controlling the gain of a signal processing stage in the light collection and photo-detection module and/or analog scan data signal processor, during the corresponding laser beam scanning cycle.

  • Publication number: 20160188944
Abstract: A method controls the exposure of an image containing a barcode for a barcode reading device. The method obtains a line of scan data from the image and identifies areas of saturation within the scan data. If there are saturated areas within the scan data, the method switches from an automatic gain control to a predetermined gain control. The method then resumes automatic gain control after a predetermined time.

  • Patent number: 9277668
Abstract: An indicia-reading module suitable for integration within a host mobile computing device that has an integrated flexible circuit is disclosed. The indicia-reading module includes a plurality of subassemblies, each supported and electrically connected by a discrete, rigid, multilayer printed-circuit-board (PCB). A unitary flexible circuit electrically connects the subassemblies and is physically integrated between two inner layers of each subassembly's discrete, rigid, multilayer printed-circuit-board. The use of the integrated flexible circuit aids in reducing module size, signal loss, and interference with the host mobile computing device.

  • Patent number: 9141839
Abstract: A system and method are presented for improving the performance of code scanners in the extended and far ranges. At these distances, the intensity of the laser beam reflected off the code symbol can be markedly decreased, thereby decreasing the likelihood of a successful reading of the code symbol by the code scanner. The system provides for dynamic power increases to the laser source to generate a greater dynamic range.
