The connector may be formed from multiple wafers of different sizes. Shorter wafers may have mating contact portions in columns and tails in rows. Taller wafers may have mating contact portions in the same column as a respective shorter wafer and tails in a row parallel to and offset from the row of tails of the respective shorter wafer.

The member may be inserted into or molded in the slot. In some embodiments, the slot may or may not receive a member that is insulative when the electrical connector does not need to meet the high performance requirements. Such a configuration enables the same connector to be compatible with multiple performance protocols.

The platforms of the frame have threaded holes extending therethrough such that screws can be inserted to hold one of the two platforms of the electrical connector to a first circuit board and the other one of the two platforms of the electrical connector to a second circuit board that is substantially edge aligned to the first circuit board. Such a configuration enables connecting circuit boards of various thicknesses in a coplanar manner.

The wireless circuitry may perform system selection in which the receivers attempt to acquire a signal transmitted by a base station using different RATs. The first receiver and the second receiver may concurrently perform system selection in which the first receiver performs a band scan over the first RAT while the second receiver concurrently performs a band scan over a second or additional RAT. Additional band scans may be performed as needed until a signal is acquired. Once a signal is acquired, the wireless circuitry may establish cellular communications with the wireless base station based on the acquired signal. This may minimize the amount of time required to begin cellular telephone communications in many situations.

Such force may be limited with twists in the beams and/or splitting the beam portions.
