  • Publication number: 20080109390
Abstract: An autonomic computing system for dynamically managing a performance model for a data center. Measured performance data for a data processing system and performance model performance data from a performance model of the data processing system are obtained from which is generated estimated performance data. Upon comparison, if a difference between the measured performance data and the estimated performance data falls within defined limits, the performance module in the performance model structure is identified as an accurate model. If the difference does not fall within defined limits, the estimated performance data, the model performance data, and the measured performance data is analyzed to estimate new performance parameters for the performance model structure. Responsive to estimating new performance parameters for the performance model structure, the performance model structure is updated with the estimated new performance parameters.

  • Patent number: 7136647
Abstract: This invention discloses a method for controlling inter-frequency hard handoffs by using user equipment(UE) event-triggered reporting mode in a WCDMA system, being applicable to geographical cells covered by multiple frequency points. Its main technical feature is that the radio network controller (RNC), after receiving reported results from the UE, performs the decision and execution according to the specific events. This method has the advantages of a reasonable logic and high efficiency, being able to well ensure the realization of the inter-frequency handoffs required by a WCDMA system, improved communication quality, reduced transmission power of the UE, reduced interference to other cells, and increased system capacity, etc.

  • Publication number: 20030068556
Abstract: Carbonaceous insertion compounds and methods for preparation are described wherein the compounds comprise a highly disordered, impurity free, hard pre-graphitic carbonaceous host. Carbonaceous insertion compounds can be prepared which have large reversible capacity for lithium yet low irreversible capacity and voltage hysteresis. Such insertion compounds can be prepared by simple pyrolysis of suitable epoxy, phenolic resin, or carbohydrate precursors at an appropriate temperature. These insertion compounds may be suitable for use as high capacity anodes in lithium ion batteries.

  • Patent number: 6482540
Abstract: A multi-fold rechargeable battery cell structure comprising electrode elements and separator elements, wherein relief slots are formed along the fold axes of the outermost electrode elements in order to relieve folding stresses which could result in damage and impairment of the operation of the cell. The slots are formed adjacent to regions of intact electrode material in each outermost electrode element and are arranged such that the slots of one electrode element are aligned with the regions of intact electrode material of the other electrode element. In this manner, electrode element planar integrity is maintained while the effective laminate fold region thickness is reduced.
