Abstract: A system and method for providing a default source to program channel numbers. In one embodiment, the system allows a user to program over-lapping channel numbers to a selected default source. The system includes at least one channel number usable by a plurality of sources for providing a station to transmit television programs. The system generates an electronic system guide identifying the plurality of sources. The system allows a user to select one of the plurality of sources from the electronic system guide as a default source. The system programs the at least one channel number to tune to a station for receiving television programs provided by the selected default source numbers. The system the programs the over-lapping channel numbers to tune to a station provided by the selected second default source and program any non-over-lapping channel numbers to tune to a station provided by the selected first default source.

Abstract: A method and system for generating a folder guide used to generate tailored broadcast system electronic program guides is described. In one embodiment, at least one category folder is displayed. The user can then select a category folder of interest. Sub-category folders related to the selected category are then displayed. The user can then select one or more sub-category folders and generate a category specific electronic program guide automatically.

Abstract: Method for displaying future program information in a broadcasting system that includes a future program action indicator. According to one embodiment, future program information is provided for a plurality of future programs. The user selects one or more future programs for which action is desired. A future program actions menu is also provided from which a user selects future actions to be taken in regard to the future programs selected. An indicator is then included in the future program information display that indicates the action that will be taken in regard to the future program. In one embodiment the indicator is an action-descriptive icon.
