Publication number: 20240422370Abstract: A processing service of a provider network may protect media content from being tampered with when it is transmitted from the provider network/transcoder to untrusted networks (e.g., third-party networks/CDNs) and to a media player. The processing service (e.g., the transcoder) generates a public and a private key. The service uses the private key to digitally sign content portions (e.g., video frames) before distribution to untrusted CDNs. The provider network creates a manifest that includes the public key. To play the media content, the media player obtains a manifest that includes the public key (via a secure/trusted connection with the provider network). The media player may then obtain the media content from an untrusted edge server/CDN and validate it using the public key that was separately obtained from the manifest (to verify the content was not tampered with).Type: ApplicationFiled: August 27, 2024Publication date: December 19, 2024Applicant: Amazon Technologies, Inc.Inventors: Selvanayagam Sendurpandian, Ross Engers, Luke Curley, Nikhil Purushe, Andrew Francis, Daniel Lin, Tarek Amara, Shuhan Jin, Levi Lovelock, Berk Taner, Yann Landry, Neeraj Satish Joshi, Jean-Sebastien Royer

Patent number: 11765418Abstract: A video streaming service may include a segmentation component that provides segment metadata that indicates starting locations for a plurality of segments of video content that are produced during transcoding of the video content. The segment metadata may be sent to a first transcode server and a second transcode server to allow alignment of segmentations between the first transcode server and the second transcode server. This may allow transcoding of the video content to be seamlessly switched from the first transcode server to the second transcode server, during transmission of the video content, without causing interruption of playback. The first transcode server and the second transcode server may also operate in parallel to produce different versions of the video content, such as versions encoded using different codecs. A video player may seamlessly switch between these different codec versions without causing interruption of playback.Type: GrantFiled: June 29, 2021Date of Patent: September 19, 2023Assignee: Twitch Interactive, Inc.Inventors: Selvanayagam Sendurpandian, Xiangbo Li, Benjamin Hirsch, Nagendra Akula Suresh Babu, Alex Converse, Alex Battaglia, Sangmook Jung, Luke Curley, Rohit Puri, Yueshi Shen, Tarek Amara

Patent number: 11039102Abstract: Various techniques for providing video feed redundancy are described herein. Instructions may be provided for switching input to an output video feed between two or more redundant input video feeds. In some examples, the redundant input video feeds may not be duplicates, may not be frame synchronized, may not be transmitted from the same location, may not be transmitted using the same network types or transmission protocols, and/or may not be initiated at the same time. In some examples, the instructions for video feed redundancy may be associated with respective authorization keys for the redundant input video feeds.Type: GrantFiled: December 12, 2017Date of Patent: June 15, 2021Assignee: Twitch Interactive, Inc.Inventors: Ivan Marcin, Jonas Bengtson, Tarek Amara, Shawn Hsu, Abhinav Kapoor, Jorge Arturo Villatoro, Eran Ambar

Patent number: 10944982Abstract: Methods to switch between renditions of a video stream are generally described. In some examples, the methods may include encoding a video stream at a first image quality in a first rendition and a second, lower image quality in a second rendition. The methods may further include sending the first rendition to a recipient computing device. The methods may include receiving a request to switch from the first rendition to the second rendition. The methods may include determining that first indicator data of a first inter-coded frame indicates that the video stream can be switched to a lower image quality rendition at the first inter-coded frame. In some examples, the methods may further include sending the second rendition to the recipient computing device.Type: GrantFiled: November 15, 2019Date of Patent: March 9, 2021Assignee: AMAZON TECHNOLOGIES, INC.Inventors: Qi Keith Wang, Yueshi Shen, Yongjun Wu, Tarek Amara, Naushirwan Navroze Patuck, Ilya Vladimirovich Brailovskiy

Patent number: 10158861Abstract: Various embodiments are described herein for methods and systems for operating a video compression system. In one example embodiment, the method of operating a video compression system includes determining an encoding complexity limit for an encoding module within the video compression system, determining signal complexity of an input signal to the video compression system, comparing the encoding complexity limit to the signal complexity at an adaptive scaling module within the video compression system, and if the signal complexity is determined to be greater than the encoding complexity limit, manipulating the resolution of the input signal at the adaptive scaling module to generate an output signal.Type: GrantFiled: February 2, 2017Date of Patent: December 18, 2018Assignee: Evertz Microsystems Ltd.Inventors: Sunil Koteyar, Rakesh Patel, Tarek Amara, Alpesh Patel

Publication number: 20140294091Abstract: The present invention relates to a method of and apparatus for compression encoding of a picture in a picture sequence. In particular, the invention relates to a method of and apparatus for compression encoding of a picture in a picture sequence so as to maintain a good picture quality while providing compression coding and decoding with low latency. The invention provides a method of compression encoding a picture in a picture sequence in which the pictures in the picture sequence are coded as prediction coded pictures with a single reference picture and have at least two macroblock sets. One set is a refresh set in which the macroblocks are intra-picture coded. The decoded compression coded picture information used for compression coding picture information is decoded without use of a de-blocking filter.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 14, 2011Publication date: October 2, 2014Applicant: TELEFONAKTIEBOLAGET L M ERICSSON (PUBL)Inventors: Alois Martin Bock, Tarek Amara, David Clewer
