According to the method an air separator is attached to the rotor, an interference is determined between the air separator and a turbine disc of the rotor, and the interference is adjusted in the range of 0.020 and 0.060 inches. Further disclosed is rotor for a gas turbine in which an axial interference between two parts attached to the rotor are in a range of 0.20 to 0.060 inches.
