  • Publication number: 20130044696
Abstract: A mobile wireless communication device, in response to a circuit switched page message, suspends an LTE session and engages in a circuit switched call without a determination of receipt of a connection release message from the LTE network. The mobile wireless communication device, therefore, suspends the LTE session before, or without, receiving any connection release message authorizing the termination of the LTE session.

  • Patent number: 7398095
Abstract: A target handset in a wireless communication network receives a PTT call announce message that is broadcast over a plurality of base stations without first sending a page message to precisely locate the target handset. The plurality of base stations cover a geographic region in which the target handset is expect to be located. Accordingly, the call setup delay introduced by first broadcasting a page message to precisely locate the target handset is eliminated. The additional burden on the network to broadcast the larger announce message is negligible because the bandwidth available in the forward common control channel (“FCCCH”) is sufficient to handle the larger message with no degradation to the network. Additionally, the announce message can be streamlined to reduce its data size and thereby minimize any additional burden on the network.

  • Patent number: 7260414
Abstract: A requesting handset in a wireless communication network sends a call message requesting a push-to-talk connection with a target handset. In response, a push-to-talk server sends a connection status message to the requesting handset. The connection status message is sent to the requesting handset in a control channel such as the forward common control channel. The requesting handset indicates to the caller that the connection has been made with the target handset, turns on the audio channel, and buffers any audio received from the caller until the traffic channel has been established. Once the traffic channel is established, any buffered audio is sent over the traffic channel and the push-to-talk call ensues.

  • Patent number: 7123917
Abstract: A system and a method are presented for determining when to exit an existing wireless communications coverage network. The method comprises: sampling received input power levels; measuring the difference between the received input power level samples and a predetermined baseline threshold value; adjusting an indicator based on the received input power level samples compared to the predetermined baseline threshold value; setting a terminal condition indicating when the wireless communications device should exit the existing wireless communications coverage network; and exiting the existing coverage network based on a comparison of the indicator to the terminal condition.
