  • Publication number: 20070023726
Abstract: A valve of the type wherein high pressure fluid moves through a first moveable member (112) that lies in a first valve body (116), through a rotor channel (162), and though a second moveable member (150) in a second body, with the rotor being rotatable to direct the fluid into a selected passage of the second body. In this valve, forces on the rotor vary with the pressure of the fluid, but are decreased to reduce friction and therefore reduce rotation torque. Forces on the rotor are decreased by constructing each moveable member with a cylindrical surface (135) that is dynamically sealed against. Each valve body includes a body and an insert (126) threaded into a front end of the body. The insert has an internal flange (132) with a flange front end (133) that abuts the rear of a spring (120) that urges the movable member forward towards the rotor, and with a flange rear end (204) that abuts a seal device (121) that dynamically seals to the cylindrical surface (135) of the moveable member.

  • Patent number: 5934320
Abstract: A rotary fluid valve has a pivotable disk (36) with through slots (38, 39), the disk blocking outer ends of ports (31, 32) in a neutral disk position. When the disk pivots in first or second directions from the neutral position, one of its slots moves into line with one of the ports. This allows pressured air to flow from the now-uncovered port and through the disk slot, and through an upper chamber (46) lying against the upper face of the disk, to allow air to flow between an external fluid coupling (17 or 18) that is coupled to the port, to another external coupling (19, 20) that is coupled to the upper chamber, as to inflate or deflate a vehicle air bag.

  • Patent number: 5651555
Abstract: A supported structure is leveled against positional variations relative to a supporting structure with a fluid suspension system between the supported structure and the supporting structure. The fluid suspension system has a first fluid leveling valve for adjustment and operation of the supported structure to and at a first level relative to the supporting structure, and is provided with a second fluid leveling valve for adjustment and operation of the supported structure to and at an alternative second level relative to the supporting structure. The supported structure is adjusted with the first fluid leveling valve to the first level relative to the supporting structure. The first level is sensed. The activated first fluid leveling valve is operated in response to the sensed first level to maintain the first level against positional variations. The supported structure is alternatively adjusted with the second fluid leveling valve to the second level relative to the supporting structure.

  • Patent number: 5161817
Abstract: A fluid suspension system has a valve including first and second valve parts coupled to a supporting structure and to a supported structure, respectively, and movable relative to each other in response to movements of the supporting structure and the supported structure relative to each other. One of these first and second valve parts has a port connected to a fluid spring of the suspension system, and the other of these first and second valve parts includes a fluid passage having an aperture at that port for a supply of fluid through that port to the fluid spring in a first relative position of these first and second valve parts. A fluid outlet in that other valve part is spaced from the port in a first relative position of the first and second valve parts, and communicates with that port for a removal of fluid from the fluid spring in a second relative position of the first and second valve parts.
