Publication number: 20210098153Abstract: A fire resistant cable, the cable includes an electrical conductor surrounded by an insulation layer. The insulation layer is a composite material including ceramic particles embedded in a polymer matrix. The ceramic particles and polymers are chosen such that the ceramic particles start to sinter together at a temperature lower than the complete decomposition of the polymer chains. When the cable is exposed to heat and flame the polymer degrades, the ceramic particles sinter together and the insulation layer becomes a continuous sintered ceramic layer that both insulates and supports the conductor for improved circuit integrity.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 29, 2020Publication date: April 1, 2021Applicant: Champlain Cable Corp.Inventor: Tariq Quadir

Patent number: 7670979Abstract: A porous refractory product includes a matrix of sintered silicon carbide having a porosity of about 45% to about 65%. The matrix is formed by heating in a noble gas atmosphere a cast preform including a mixture of alpha-silicon carbide and boron carbide each having a particle size of less than about 1 micron. The heating causes the formation of gaseous SiO within the silicon carbide matrix, which, in turn, forms pores having an average size of less than about 1 micron. The porous refractory products herein are suitable for use in a variety of applications including for use in high temperature particulate filtering applications.Type: GrantFiled: October 5, 2007Date of Patent: March 2, 2010Assignee: CerCo LLCInventors: Tariq Quadir, Corey Dunn

Patent number: 6938481Abstract: An improved lower cost sight glass and a method for producing the same is disclosed, whereby the sight glass is made by placing a transparent component in secure contact with a metallic ring. The contact may optionally be effectuated by temporarily altering the relative dimensions of the metallic ring and the transparent component, placing the transparent component into the inner space of the metallic ring, and then reversing the altered relative dimensions of the metallic ring and the transparent component. A hermetic seal is formed between the transparent component and the metallic ring is by the application of an inorganic sealing compound.Type: GrantFiled: March 11, 2003Date of Patent: September 6, 2005Assignee: Emerson Electric Co.Inventors: Dieter Paterek, Tariq Quadir, Arjan Kolkman, Scott Schuckmann
