  • Patent number: 8439652
Abstract: A suction throttle valve of a variable displacement compressor having a compressor housing includes a suction chamber, a crank chamber, an inlet, a suction passage, a valve body, a valve housing, an urging member, a valve chamber, and a communication hole. The valve body is provided for adjusting an opening area of the suction passage and movably arranged in the suction passage. The urging member urges the valve body in the direction that decreases the opening area of the suction passage. The communication hole is provided for connecting the suction chamber to the valve housing. An opening area of the communication hole is variable in accordance with the movement of the valve body. Accordingly, the opening area of the communication hole becomes maximum during the maximum displacement operation of the compressor and becomes reduced during the intermediate displacement operation of the compressor.

  • Patent number: 8366407
Abstract: The present invention is directed to provide a device for reducing pulsation in a variable displacement compressor. The compressor is connected to an external refrigerant circuit. The device for reducing pulsation includes a flow passage and a control valve. The control valve includes a valve housing, a spool valve and a damper chamber. The spool valve has formed therethrough a flow hole. The damper chamber communicates with the flow passage adjacent to the external refrigerant circuit through the flow hole. Effective cross-sectional area and effective length of the flow hole are determined based on frequency of a specific pulsation of the refrigerant gas and volume of the damper chamber at the time of the development of the specific pulsation in such a manner that the specific pulsation is developed, resonance effect of a Helmholtz resonator takes place in the damper chamber.

  • Patent number: 7972119
Abstract: A variable displacement compressor includes a housing, a rotary shaft, a swash plate, a suction pressure region, a suction throttle valve, an oil reservoir, a lubricating oil passage, a gas flow passage, a communication passage, and a throttle mechanism. The suction-pressure region includes a suction chamber and a suction passage. The suction throttle valve is arranged in the suction passage and defines an upstream suction-pressure region and a downstream suction-pressure region. The lubricating oil passage connects the oil reservoir to the upstream suction-pressure region. The gas flow passage connects the crank chamber to the suction chamber. The communication passage connects the lubricating oil passage to at least one of the downstream suction-pressure region, the gas flow passage and the crank chamber. The throttle mechanism is provided in the lubricating oil passage between the oil reservoir and a position where the communication passage connects to the lubricating oil passage.

  • Patent number: 5556260
Abstract: A multiple-cylinder piston type compressor is disclosed. The compressor has a cylinder head fastened to the rear end of a cylinder block assembly of the compressor with a valve plate interposed therebetween and having formed therein a suction chamber formed in a radially outer peripheral region thereof so as to surround a central discharge chamber. The compressor further includes a refrigerant gas intake passage extending along a straight line and radially through the axial center of the compressor and having at least two holes for providing direct communication between the gas intake passage and the suction chamber at positions that are radially spaced. The refrigerant gas intake passage may include a combination of at least two passage portions having different cross-sectional areas.

  • Patent number: 5486098
Abstract: A swash plate type variable displacement compressor comprises cylinder bores, pistons, a suction chamber and a discharge chamber. A suction valve introduces a low pressure gas into a working chamber in each cylinder bore. A discharge valve introduces a high pressure gas in the working chamber into the discharge chamber during a compression stroke. A crank chamber communicates to each of the cylinder bores at rear sides of the pistons. A swash plate is tiltably supported on a drive shaft and connected to each of the pistons through associated rods. The swash plate makes the pistons reciprocate in response to its undulating swing motion and varies its inclination angle based upon pressure differential between pressure in the suction chamber and pressure in the crank chamber therefore adjusting discharge displacement.
