Patent number: 6769869Abstract: A steam turbine that passes more turbine driving steam by off-setting the turbine moving blade throat•pitch ratio before operation and, when a blade untwist is generated during operation, causing more turbine driving steam to flow by maintaining an appropriate value, and, at the same time causing the turbine moving blade throat•pitch ratio to swell by giving the blade untwisting angle to the blade cross-sections in regions where the aerodynamic loss is small. The steam turbine is one in which the throat•pitch ratio (S/T) distribution of a turbine moving blade is offset by forming a curve providing at least one minimal value and maximal value by giving blade twist angle to the blade cross-sections in the blade height direction from blade root to blade tip and, at the same time, the distribution of throat•pitch ratio (S/T) taking into consideration blade untwist generated during operation.Type: GrantFiled: December 26, 2001Date of Patent: August 3, 2004Assignee: Kabushiki Kaisha ToshibaInventors: Tadashi Tanuma, Taro Sakamoto

Patent number: 6763587Abstract: A manufacturing method for manufacturing a component part for a variable capacity turbine, and the structure of a nozzle driving member, will simplify the structure of the component parts for the adjustable nozzle mechanism, the manufacturing work, which results in lowering the manufacturing count and cost as well as the number of component parts, and in lightening the weight of the variable capacity turbine. In order to manufacture the component parts for a radial-flow variable capacity turbine, in which actuating gas is forced to flow from a spiral scroll formed in a turbine casing to a turbine rotor in a radial direction through multiple nozzle vanes, of which the angle is adjustable by an adjustable nozzle mechanism, for rotating a turbine rotor, this manufacturing method has a column shaped connecting pin formed as a single structure with a plate member by pressing, or by precision molding by partially forcing the surface of the plate member to protrude in a column shape.Type: GrantFiled: March 26, 2002Date of Patent: July 20, 2004Assignee: Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd.Inventors: Yasuaki Jinnai, Koji Matsumoto, Taro Sakamoto

Patent number: 6736595Abstract: A variable capacity turbine has adjustment work simplified so as to decrease man-hours, assembly and adjustment costs. The structure is simplified to decrease part category numbers and the number of parts itself, decreasing part costs and enabling nozzle vane setup to a high degree of accuracy without being influenced by the degree of dimensional accuracy of the component parts. A plurality of joint members (lever plates) are used which are the same in number as the nozzle shafts to connect a plurality of nozzle vanes and the nozzle driving member. Each nozzle shaft is fitted and fixed to one end of a respective lever plate after setting the predetermined positional relationship between the wing angle of the nozzle vanes and the predetermined fitting direction of the fixed section of the lever plate. Another end of each lever plate is engaged with the nozzle driving member.Type: GrantFiled: February 25, 2002Date of Patent: May 18, 2004Assignee: Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd.Inventors: Yasuaki Jinnai, Taro Sakamoto

Patent number: 6659718Abstract: The object of this invention is to propose a variable capacity turbine, requiring neither adjustment process of the full-opening position and the perfect closing position nor the dedicated full position stopper, in which the adjustment works for setting up the full-opening position of the nozzle vanes are not required, and the accidents of damaging the turbine wheel caused by the nozzle vanes which opened excessively can be avoided. It has a plurality of joint members of the same number as the nozzle vanes, which connect a plurality of nozzle shafts for nozzle vanes and the nozzle driving member, and which rotate the nozzle shafts with a swing motion forced by the nozzle driving member. The nozzle angle regulator is provided with two full-opening stopper surfaces provided on at least two neighboring joint members to move the nozzle vanes towards the opening direction and stop the nozzle vanes at the full-opening position by contacting the two neighboring joint members to each other.Type: GrantFiled: February 27, 2002Date of Patent: December 9, 2003Assignee: Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd.Inventors: Yasuaki Jinnai, Taro Sakamoto
