  • Patent number: 7345537
Abstract: A power amplifier stage has a first amplifier subsection and a second amplifier subsection coupled in a parallel configuration. The first amplifier subsection receives a signal to be amplified and the second amplifier subsection receives the signal to be amplified via a first delay line. The amplified output signal of the first amplifier subsection is passed through a second impedance inverter and is combined with the amplified output signal from the second amplifier subsection. In a low power mode, the first amplifier subsection operates as a linear amplifier and the second subsection is biased off. In a high power mode, both the first and second amplifier subsections operate as linear amplifiers. Selecting the impedances of the second delay element and the first amplifier to be equal is essential for high power mode operation and greatly improves the amplifier efficiency in the low power mode.

  • Patent number: 7329080
Abstract: A sports equipment transporting apparatus is described. The apparatus is designed to be put into a vehicle with a mid- to long-size body length and is housed within a ramp housing. The ramp housing is two-tiered and includes a slide-out ramp located within the upper tier, with the ramp being mounted on a pair of guide tracks. The lower tier includes a storage compartment and a spare tire compartment. The rear entry of the vehicle is modified so that the top door panel becomes a roll-out door panel, with two swinging doors attached that pivot outwards ninety degrees. When the ramp is fully extended from the ramp housing, the ramp angles downward and touches an external ground surface. Once a piece of sports equipment has been placed on top of the ramp housing, a series of tie-downs are utilized to keep the sports equipment in place.

  • Publication number: 20080022073
Abstract: A functional-level instruction-set computing (FLIC) architecture executes higher-level functional instructions such as lookups and bit-compares of variable-length operands. Each FLIC processing-engine slice has specialized processing units including a lookup unit that searches for a matching entry in a lookup cache. Variable-length operands are stored in execution buffers. The operand length and location in the execution buffer are stored in fixed-length general-purpose registers (GPRs) that also store fixed-length operands. A copy/move unit moves data between input and output buffers and one or more FLIC processing-engine slices. Multiple contexts can each have a set of GPRs and execution buffers. An expansion buffer in a FLIC slice can be allocated to a context to expand that context's execution buffer for storing longer operands.

  • Patent number: 7316906
Abstract: The subject invention discloses a method for determining the prognosis and probable clinical course of a subject diagnosed with B-CLL. Specifically, the invention involves comparing CD38 expression in a biological sample from the subject containing B-CLL cells to a baseline level of CD38 expression, wherein an elevated level of CD38 expression in relation to the baseline level of CD38 expression may indicate poor prognosis or aggressive course of disease in the subject. Also disclosed is a method for determining whether the Ig V genes of the B-CLL cells of a B-CLL patient are mutated, comprising comparing CD38 expression in a biological sample from the subject containing B-CLL cells to a baseline level of CD38 expression, wherein a lower level of CD38 expression in relation to the baseline level indicates IG V gene mutation.

  • Publication number: 20070282936
Abstract: Provided are digital processing apparatuses and techniques for estimating the fractional exponentiation of the base number 2, i.e., 2f where f is a fractional value. In one representative embodiment, a calculation is made of a folded quantity, which is equal to 1?f if f is greater than a specified threshold and is equal to f otherwise; then, a function of the folded quantity is calculated; and finally, the function of the folded quantity is subtracted from the fraction f and 1 is added. In another embodiment, 2f is approximated by calculating 1+f? in the binary numbering system.
