  • Publication number: 20140009462
Abstract: Systems and methods for improving overall quality of three-dimensional (3D) content by altering parallax budget and compensating for moving objects are disclosed. According to an aspect, a method includes identifying areas including one or more pixels of the 3D image that violate pre-defined disparity criterion. Further, the method includes identifying a region that includes pixels whose disparity exceeds a predetermined threshold. The method also includes identifying pixels belonging to either left or right images to replace the corresponding ones on the other image. Further, the method includes identifying key pixels to determine disparity attributes of a problem area. The method also includes identifying a proper depth of key pixels. Further, the method includes calculating the disparity of all remaining pixels in the area based on the disparity values of key pixels.

  • Publication number: 20120105602
Abstract: Methods and systems for creating three-dimensional video sequences of a scene are disclosed. An example method can include receiving multiple frames of a scene. The method may include selecting a target frame from among the multiple frames; selecting a first subset of frames, N, from among the multiple frames that are associated with the target frame that is representative of a large stereo baseline; and analyzing the first frame subset to identify two images for forming a stereoscopic pair of frames. Further, the method includes extracting depth data of static objects in the stereoscopic pair. The method includes selecting a second subset of frames that are associated with the target frame that is representative of a smaller stereo baseline than that represented by N; and utilizing the second frame subset to calculate depth of moving objects. The method includes generating a three-dimensional video frame based on the depth data.

Further, the method includes determining that a capture device is in a position of the target camera positional offset. The method also includes capturing a second still image. Further, the method includes correcting the captured first and second still images. The method also includes generating the three-dimensional image based on the corrected first and second still images.
