Patent number: 5788326Abstract: A seat cushion is bisected into a front seat cushion and a rear seat cushion. The front seat cushion is liftably and lowerably supported through a lifting mechanism which includes a front link and a rear link. When the seat back is reclined rearwards, a locking pin of a locking bar is separated from a locking claw and slid forwards by a biasing force provided by the front link intended to be tilted down rearwards by a resilient force of a spring. As a result, the front seat cushion is moved rearwards in a manner to follow the reclining of the seat back. The lifted seat cushion does not hinder the reclining of the seat back, and no gap is created between the seat cushion and the seat back. The front seat cushion is lifted to constitute a child seat, and a front seat back and a rear seat back of a seat back are opened longitudinally to constitute a baby basket. Thus, a central seat can be utilized for a baby, a child and an adult.Type: GrantFiled: July 18, 1996Date of Patent: August 4, 1998Assignee: Honda Giken Kogyo Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Tateo Kawade, Osamu Shirose, Hiroshi Tokuyama

Patent number: 5060975Abstract: The part-mounting structure of the present invention includes a part-mounting portion of a sandwich structure constituted by a core layer and plastic skin layers formed on both surfaces of the core layer, and a part-mounting metal member, at least one of the skin layers having a tapered recess having a sloped side wall and a flat bottom wall, the bottom wall being constituted by the skin layers bonded together, the part-mounting metal member having a bottom plate, and a pair of side plates vertically extending from the bottom plate substantially on both sides, at least one of the side plates having a dent tapered complementarily to the tapered recess of the sandwich structure. The part-mounting metal member is mounted to the part-mounting portion of the sandwich structure with a surface of the tapered recess of the sandwich structure and a surface of the tapered dent of the part-mounting metal member bonded together by an adhesive.Type: GrantFiled: December 5, 1989Date of Patent: October 29, 1991Assignee: Honda Giken Kogyo Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Shoichi Sano, Suguru Yoshida, Ken Uchida, Hajime Kajiwara, Masao Ohno, Tateo Kawade

Patent number: 4648575Abstract: A height adjusting device for a vehicle seat which has a function of moving a front part of the seat up and down to set up a desired inclination of the seat and a function of moving both the front and rear parts of the seat up and down to adjust the level of the whole seat. A clutch mechanism for coupling and uncoupling a lifter adjustment input member and a height adjustment input member is actuated by a control member which is adapted to rotate the lifter adjustment input member. When the clutch mechanism is uncoupled and the lifter adjustment input member is rotated, only that input member is rotated to raise or lower only the front part of the seat. When the clutch mechanism is coupled and the lifter adjustment input member is rotated, the height adjustment input member is rotated together with the lifter adjustment input member to raise or lower both the front and rear parts of the seat. Lifter adjustment and height adjustment are accomplished as desired merely by manipulating the single control member.Type: GrantFiled: July 11, 1985Date of Patent: March 10, 1987Assignee: Honda Giken Kogyo Kabushiki KaishaInventor: Tateo Kawade

Patent number: 4579368Abstract: A seat belt anchoring mechanism for a car including a passenger room, a seat belt and a pillar portion covered with a garnish at the room interior side. A rotatable anchor plate supporting the shoulder harness portion of the seat belt arranged on the pillar portion with a cover and an operation lever rotatable together. A guide rail is provided at the room exterior side of the garnish and secured to the pillar portion, the guide rail having a plurality of engagement slots arranged in the longitudinal direction and a locking member is resiliently biased to be engaged with any of the engagement portions with a mobile member carrying the locking member and connected with the anchor plate so as to be movable therewith along the guide rail. An actuation mechanism causes movement of the locking member to effect the disengagement from the engagement with one of the engagement portions in accordance with the operation of the operation lever.Type: GrantFiled: September 26, 1983Date of Patent: April 1, 1986Assignee: Honda Giken Kogyo Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Tateo Kawade, Norio Miyashita, Norio Mugikura

Patent number: 4531762Abstract: A three-way seat belt device for use in a vehicle body employs a seat belt having one end secured within a retractor fixed to the vehicle body, the belt passing upward from the retractor through an elevated guide ring and then downward so that the other end of the belt extends to a lower part of the interior of the vehicle body to a slider guided for longitudinal movement relative to a stationary guide member. The guide member may take the form of a guide channel or a guide bar. Power means for moving the slider longitudinally along the guide member may comprise an electric motor driving through a reduction gear or may comprise apparatus for moving the slider responsive to movement of a door of the vehicle.Type: GrantFiled: September 27, 1982Date of Patent: July 30, 1985Assignee: Honda Giken Kogyo Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Kiichi Sasaki, Tateo Kawade, Seiichiro Nemoto

Patent number: 4496170Abstract: A three-way seat belt device for a vehicle has a retractor mounted on the side wall of the vehicle body. A seat belt is connected at one end thereof to the retractor and is adapted to be drawn upward from said retractor and then downward through a guide ring fixed to a pillar of the vehicle body. An anchor plate is pivotally mounted at one end on the body for swinging motion. A motor and reduction gear are provided for swinging the anchor plate. Means connect the other end of the seat belt to the swinging end of the anchor plate. A tongue member slidable on the seat belt is detachably received in a central socket on the body. Releasable means, solenoid operated, are provided to lock the anchor plate in a forward horizontal position substantially parallel to an inside surface of the vehicle body.Type: GrantFiled: September 27, 1982Date of Patent: January 29, 1985Assignee: Honda Giken Kogyo Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Kiichi Sasaki, Tateo Kawade, Seiichiro Nemoto
