  • Patent number: 6904852
Abstract: A main needle holder is disposed above a needle plate, and has a screw portion for fitting a needle bar. A sub needle holder is fitted to the main needle holder by a set screw so as to be adjustable in position. Fitting position of the sub needle holder to the main needle holder is changed when loosening the screw, so that the interval of the plural needle is widened or narrowed in the longitudinal direction. Plural needles are individually fitted to the needle holders, and penetrate through a needle hole of the needle plate when descending. The fitting position of the sub needle holder to the main needle holder is changed by a longitudinal slit formed linearly on the main needle holder, and the cloth penetration lines by at least two needles of plural needles can be mutually set along in a narrow width.

  • Patent number: 6467418
Abstract: A tandem sewing machine and the stitch it forms. The sewing machine includes a stand frame; a drive motor, a throatplate; and at least two offset needles. The offset needles have a needle stagger (&sgr;) which, in combination with the needle spacing (D) produces a stitch stagger to displacement ratio (S/D) of greater than about 1 of the improved stitch. The sewing machine may also include an overedge stitching needle assembly and a compound feed assembly. In the preferred embodiment, the compound feed assembly includes a bottom feed dog and a top feed dog, wherein the top feed dog is a differential feed with respect to the bottom feed dog. The sewing machine may further include a second bottom feed dog which may also be a differential feed. In the preferred embodiment, the overedge stitching needle assembly includes at least one needle performing an overedge stitch.

  • Patent number: 6213039
Abstract: An apparatus for detecting thread breakage in a sewing machine. The sewing machine comprises a looper reciprocating laterally across a leading end of a needle, a thread-controlling cam fixed on a rotary shaft interlocked with the reciprocal motion of the looper and varying in the extent of projection from the thread take-up stand along with rotation of the shaft, and thread guides disposed on the thread take-up stand at both sides of the thread-controlling cam. Said thread guides have thread eyelets for inserting the looper thread. Other thread guides having thread pass eyelets for inserting the looper thread are fixed and disposed on the looper thread route between the thread-controlling cam and the looper. A thread breakage-detecting member detects presence or absence of vibration of looper thread inserted in the thread pass eyelets of other thread guides between the other thread guides.

  • Patent number: 5257591
Abstract: An automatic sewing apparatus for hemming and closing a sleeve is used for hemming a sleeve blank and sewing it into tubular form for making, for example, a short-sleeved T-shirt. The steps subsequent to putting the sleeve blank on a conveyor are done fully automatically and continuously to make the tubular sleeve. The apparatus according to one embodiment of the invention comprises first and second sewing machines disposed at inner corner sides of an L-shaped sewing table, a feed device having a conveying surface disposed on a table part of the first sewing machine side of the sewing table, a folding member for folding the blank edge along the feed direction, a deflecting device having a member for stopping the running of the front end of the hemmed piece above the conveying surface, and a transfer device for feeding the deflected piece of a hemmed sleeve blank to the second sewing machine.

  • Patent number: 5226378
Abstract: An automatic sewing apparatus for hemming and closing a sleeve is used for making a tubular sleeve a short-sleeved T-shirt. After placing the sleeve blanks on a conveyor only, subsequent operations are done fully automatically and continuously to make tubular sleeves, resulting in labor savings, productivity enhancement, and a reduction in savings production cost. In particular two types of shapes cut for sleeves can be sewn by using the apparatus by turning them in the appropriate direction. The apparatus comprises a first sewing machine for hemming and a second sewing machine for edge sewing disposed at both inner corner sides of an L-shaped sewing table, a blank feed device installed at a table part of the first sewing machine side, a folding member for the blank edge, a hemmed piece deflecting device, and direction turning members for turning the deflected piece.

  • Patent number: 5152235
Abstract: A sewing apparatus for forming cuffs for sweat jackets or anklets for sweat pants or the like. The apparatus includes a movable table carrying an end of an elastic tape continuous to a supply source. The tape advances on a carrying table to a cutting device where the tape is cut. The front end of the tape is transferred to gripping blades which can be inverted, simultaneously with the return movement of the movable table. The tape is further let out toward the gripping blades by a predetermined length feeding device and the gripping blades turn so that the tape front end is folded back on the tape rear part. The tape rear part is cut off and the folded cut-piece is supplied to a sewing machine by a conveying device automatically and sewn to join both ends along the cut line.
