  • Publication number: 20010021781
Abstract: A catalyst for hydrogenating a dicarboxylic acid, a dicarboxylic acid anhydride, or an ester thereof, said catalyst comprising palladium and rhenium supported on a carrier, characterized in that not more than 20% of analyzed points have an intensity ratio of 2 or larger, wherein a catalyst particle is analyzed by electron probe microscope analysis (EPMA) for rhenium along a longest diameter in a largest cross-section of the catalyst particle, and a rhenium intensity at each analyzed point is divided by an average intensity of all of the analyzed points to give the intensity ration, and that the carrier at least one active carbon selected from the group consisting of coal-based active carbon, coconut-based active carbon and peat-based active carbon.

  • Patent number: 5854161
Abstract: A process is provided for the regeneration of a vanadium-phosphorus oxide catalyst which has been used in a process for the preparation of maleic anhydride by oxidizing butane. The used catalyst particles are removed from the fluidized bed reactor and subjected to impact with each other and/or with structural surfaces such that the deteriorated layer is peeled away. Various forms of equipment may be employed such as pneumatic classifiers, jet mills and jetted fluidized beds.

  • Patent number: 5326889
Abstract: There is disclosed a process for the production of 1,4-butanediol and tetrahydrofuran by the catalytic hydrogenation in the gas phase of .gamma.-butyrolactone using a solid catalyst comprising copper and silicon, copper, chromium, and manganese or copper, chromium, manganese and barium.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: November 4, 1992
Date of Patent: July 5, 1994

Inventors: Sadakatsu Suzuki, Tatsumi Ichiki, Hiroshi Ueno
  • Patent number: 5210229
Abstract: Gamma-butyrolactone is prepared by catalytic dehydrogenation of 1,4-butanediol in a gaseous phase in the presence of a catalyst comprising copper, chromium, and manganese and/or barium. Improvement is in that the catalyst further contains sodium and/or potassium, whereby formation of by-products is suppressed and high yield, high selectivity and prolonged catalyst life are attained.
