  • Patent number: 7513602
Abstract: A coating method is provided for forming a liquid-repellent coat on a predetermined partial region of an inner surface of each through-hole of a nozzle plate. The nozzle plate is provided in an ink-jet head of an ink-jet printer. The coating method comprises the steps of forming a coat preform to be processed into the coat on a region including the partial region of the inner surface of the through-hole; attaching a sheet material for protecting the coat preform to one surface of the base material in which the one end of the through-hole is provided so that a part of the sheet material is packed into the through-hole; subjecting the base material to plasma processing and/or ultraviolet ray irradiating processing from the side of the base material where the other end of the through-hole is provided to remove the coat preform exposed from the sheet material while leaving the coat preform on the predetermined partial region as it is; and removing the sheet material from the base material.

  • Patent number: 5982719
Abstract: The speed of a disc handling operation by a disc apparatus having disc changer capability is significantly increased and, at the same time, the disc handling operation is performed with stability. In the disc apparatus according to this invention, a plurality of reproducing units loaded with discs are moved independently and disc reproduction is started by returning the reproducing units to their dedicated positions. Simultaneous returning of the plurality of reproducing units is prevented and each reproducing unit moves for refuge while reproducing the disc. This novel setup significantly shortens the time for moving the reproducing units for disc reproduction. When continuously reproducing a plurality of discs accommodated in proximity, the plurality of reproducing units are moved in a stacked state rather than independently. This also contributes to a significant reduction of the time in the disc handling operation.

  • Patent number: 5904574
Abstract: A semiconductor device and a method for making the semiconductor device is provided. The semiconductor device has a silicon surface of a silicon substrate from which particles and metallic impurities are removed and on which a hydrophilic property is maintained to reduce contamination while the substrate is cleaned and conveyed. A first cleaning step cleans the silicon substrate by a first cleaning solution. At that time, a native oxide film is formed on the silicon surface. The silicon substrate is then rinsed by a first rinsing step using a first rinsing solution. The silicon substrate having the native oxide film is thereafter cleaned by a second cleaning solution containing hydrogen fluoride. In the second cleaning step, the surface layer of the native oxide film is removed. The silicon substrate is further subjected to a second rinsing step that rinses the silicon substrate that retains the second cleaning solution by a second rinsing solution.

  • Patent number: 5862119
Abstract: In an auto-exchanger disc apparatus, both a disc cartridge for stocking plural discs and a pickup cartridge having a pickup are provided with common recesses, and a cartridge stocking unit is formed with a projection which is engaged with the recesses, whereby the cartridges can be exchanged for each other and mounted on the disc apparatus. Therefore, the extension and maintenance of the cartridges can be facilitated. When a double-side reproducing operation is performed, the pickup cartridge is turned upside down and then mounted on the disc apparatus, whereby the double-side reproduction can be surely performed by the disc inverting mechanism. Further, disc inclining means is provided to prevent a disc being returned from the disc feeder to the disc cartridge from abutting against the disc cartridge. The disc inclining mechanism and the disc inverting means may be integrally constructed by the same member to reduce the cost.

  • Patent number: 5602695
Abstract: A cassette loading mechanism for loading either a smaller tape cassette or a larger tape cassette into a recording/reproducing apparatus, having apparatus for causing the large cassette to avoid obstructions in a cassette holder during insertion of the large cassette and of enabling the stable insertion of the larger tape cassette in the cassette holder. The cassette loading mechanism has a cassette holder provided with contact members disposed so as to engage only the larger tape cassette and so as to move members provided on the cassette holder for use with the smaller tape cassette to a retracted position. The member for use with the smaller tape cassette and the contact member are formed in an integral unit to ensure the correct operation of the cassette loading mechanism.

  • Patent number: 5497279
Abstract: A tape cartridge is arranged so that when an upper lid of a pocket portion of the tape cartridge is in a position for opening the upper side of the pocket portion, the upper lid is positioned above an upper surface of a casing body so that a lower surface of the upper lid faces the upper surface of the casing body through a gap in which a member of a recording/reproduction apparatus for depressing the cartridge can be placed. When the upper lid is in the position for opening the upper side of the pocket, the cartridge depressing member of the recording/reproduction apparatus is placed in the gap to depress the cartridge, whereby the cartridge can be stably depressed to and mounted in a predetermined position in the recording/reproduction apparatus when the cartridge is loaded in the apparatus.
