  • Publication number: 20030067628
Abstract: A particular image written in a particular paper of a particular paper size is scanned by a scanner to produce image data, a format of the image data is changed to a mail format to change the image data to mail data, the particular paper size is added to the mail data, and the mail data is transmitted from a transmitting side to a receiving side through a LAN by an electronic mail. In the receiving side, the mail data is changed to reproduced image data, and it is judged whether or not the particular paper size of the particular paper is larger than a prescribed paper size treatable on the receiving side. In cases where the particular paper size is larger than the prescribed paper size, the reproduced image data is thinned out to produce adjusted image data, and a downsized image is printed on a prescribed paper of the prescribed paper size according to the adjusted image data.

  • Publication number: 20030067622
Abstract: An electronic-mail apparatus comprises an acceptor that accepts an electronic-mail, an electronic-mail transmitter that transmits the accepted electronic-mail to a designated electronic mail destination address, and an operational panel that includes a start member that starts a transmission of an electronic-mail to a destination address. The operational panel designates an electronic mail destination address, and further designates an alternative destination address, to be used in case of a transmission completion failure, to which a message indicating a failure in completion of a started transmission of an electronic-mail is sent when the transmission of an electronic-mail started by the start member is not completed. The message provides an indication, at the alternative destination address, of a transmission completion failure during transmission of an electronic-mail.

  • Patent number: 6405244
Abstract: A download decision section decides whether or not an electronic mail received by a mail communication section is a DL instruction message indicative of an instruction for downloading a program. A notification/instruction section puts on a light of a lamp when the download instruction message is received, and outputs a download execution instruction when a confirmation button with lamp is pushed down. A DL execution section executes a download of the program according to a download execution instruction. The download execution section generates a download request message to a downloaded data storage server via the mail communication section, and extracts the program from a program attached electronic mail transmitted from the downloaded data storage server. Accordingly, it is possible to make a rewrite of data easier and to process various types of data. The above-mentioned processing thus facilitates a rewrite of data and enables various types of data to be processed.
