  • Patent number: 7303207
Abstract: The airbag includes a bag-shaped circumferential wall formed of base cloths, and a lap portion. In the lap portion, a terminal portion of a downstream side base cloth, which is located in downstream of inflation gas, is superposed on a terminal portion of an upstream side base cloth, which is located in upstream of inflation gas. Then the lapping terminal portions are joined to each other at both sides thereof in a direction extending along edges of the terminal portions, thereby providing the lap portion. A communication port communicating inside and outside of the airbag is provided between the joined portions and between the terminal portions of the upstream and the downstream side base cloths.

  • Patent number: 6832779
Abstract: A passenger's seat airbag device comprises an airbag including a passenger's side wall portion and a peripheral wall portion. The passenger's side wall portion is arranged generally in the vertical direction when the airbag is completely inflated. The peripheral wall portion is formed to converge, when the airbag is completely inflated, generally into a conical shape from the outer peripheral edge of the passenger's side wall portion forward of the vehicle. The airbag is so constructed that the gas inlet port for an open face generally in the horizontal direction is arranged in front of the lower side of the peripheral wall portion by mounting the gas inlet port peripheral wall on a case. The airbag is housed in a case by folding it horizontally and vertically after preliminarily folded. In the airbag preliminarily folded, the portion near the upper edge in the passenger's side wall portion is arranged at a position to confront the gas inlet port.

  • Publication number: 20020093184
Abstract: A passenger seat air bag has a bottom wall portion having an aperture portion for inflating gas inlet, and a ceiling wall portion. The air bag is shaped into a bag in which outer circumferential edges of the bottom wall portion and the ceiling wall portion are coupled with each other. At the beginning of folding, while the state where the bottom wall portion and the ceiling wall portion are put on top of each other and unfolded to be flat is kept, a coupling portion on the vehicle front side where the outer circumferential edges of the bottom wall portion and the ceiling wall portion are coupled with each other is shifted toward the vehicle rear side. In that state, the air bag is folded and received in a portion of an instrument panel so that the circumferential edges thereof are close to the aperture portion. In another air bag, a flow control cloth is disposed inside an air bag body so as to cover the gas inlet and change the flow of inflating gas flowing in through the gas inlet.

  • Patent number: 6299202
Abstract: In a passenger seat air bag system, when inflating gas is made to flow through a gas inlet into an air bag folded, received and fixed in a case in order to unfold and inflate the air bag, the air bag opens a door disposed in an instrument panel, projects therefrom, and inflates toward the rear side of a vehicle. A cover portion of a flow control cloth is provided inside the air bag so as to cover the gas inlet so that the cover portion closes the opposite sides of the gas inlet in the right/left direction of the vehicle while the cover portion leaves the opposite sides of the gas inlet in the front/rear direction of the vehicle open. The cover portion of the flow control cloth is disposed so that its center in the front/rear direction of the vehicle is shifted from the center of the gas inlet toward the rear side of the vehicle.

  • Patent number: 6095557
Abstract: An air bag apparatus to be mounted in a vehicle in order to protect an on-board passenger by unfolding and inflating a bag body when the bag body is activated. The air bag apparatus is equipped with an inflator, the bag body which is mounted in folded-up condition in such a way that the gas emitted from the inflator can flow into the bag body and equipped with gas vent holes, and a cover body for covering the bag body in the folded-up condition. Each gas vent hole is fitted with a gas-vent quantity regulating valve capable of decreasing the open quantity of the gas-vent hole during the time the bag body is inflating.
