  • Patent number: 6528142
Abstract: Antireflection coating on a substrate which is coated with a low refractive index layer having a specified refractive index which in turn is coated with a high refractive index layer having a higher refractive index than the low refractive index layer, is either characterized in that a roughened surface which scatters and reflects the incident light entered into the low refractive index layer in contact with the substrate is formed at the interface between the low refractive index layer and the substrate, or that a light-diffusing layer which scatters and reflects the incident light entered into the low refractive index layer in contact with the substrate is formed at the interface between the low refractive index layer and the substrate, or that a hard coating layer in contact with the low refractive index layer is formed by dispersing a light-diffusing material in the hard coating layer, which scatters and reflects the incident light entered into the low refractive index layer.

  • Patent number: 5529014
Abstract: It is object of the present invention to provide a car-carried indicating device which provides a clear indication by the needle and a good readability are secured, and which looks larger than the actual one, leading to improvement of the valid of commodity. In a car-carried indicating device, a character plate 1 includes a substantially circular transparent portion 2 at the indicating position, transparent numerals 3a and a scale 3b being circularly arrayed around the transparent portion 2. A disk-like needle plate 8, which is driven to turn in accordance with given measuring quantities, is made of light diffusion base material. The needle plate 8 is disposed on the front side of the character plate 1. A transparent slit 9 as a needle shining when it receives back-light, which is formed on the needle plate, is extended up to the circumferential outer end of the needle plate 8.

  • Patent number: 5398134
Abstract: A displaying apparatus for a vehicle in which a displaying device, for displaying various items such as a vehicle speed, an engine speed or the like, is disposed on the rear surface side of a semitransparent reflecting member arranged with an attitude oriented toward a driver's eye and a reflecting mirror is disposed at the position located opposite to the displaying device while the reflecting member is interposed therebetween so that virtual images appearing on the reflecting surface of the semitransparent reflecting member are visually recognized by a driver through a front glass. The reflecting member or reflecting mirror has wavelength selectivity which allows high reflectance only within the wavelength range defined for a color of displaying light emitted from a displaying device. Alternatively, the front glass has wavelength selectivity which allows high transmittance only within the wavelength range defined for the color of the displaying light emitted from the displaying device.

  • Patent number: 5142453
Abstract: Described herein is an illuminant pointer needle assembly for a vehicular instrument, which is adapted to display the index portion of a pointer needle in the color of a coloring layer applied on the surface of the index portion in the day time, in a color of illumination of a light-emitting element in the nighttime when the pointer needle is lighted up, and in a mixture color in the dusk by superposing the color of illumination of the color of coloring layer reflecting incident external light. The pointer assembly essentially includes: a pointer needle having a base end portion fixedly mounted on a pointer needle shaft of a movement unit of a meter or the like and provided with a transparent index portion; a coloring layer formed on the bottom surface of the transparent index portion to reflect incident external light; a light-emitting element fixedly mounted on the base end portion of the pointer needle to light up the index portion in a color different from that of the coloring layer.

  • Patent number: 5129269
Abstract: In a meter for an automobile comprising a meter case, a pointer driven by a meter drive unit, a dial plate having a display area and a graduations, characters and patterns display part formed on a base, the dial plate having a ground color providing a background to permit recognition of the position of the pointer, and an illumination lamp located on the rear side of the dial plate mounted in the meter case so as to illuminate the dial plate from the rear side or from the front side through a light guide member, at least one of the display area and the display part of the dial plate is formed by evaporation of a metal film permeable to light.

  • Patent number: 4967181
Abstract: A fuel level gauge provided with a remaining-amount warning apparatus is arranged so that an indicating needle for indicating the amount of fuel remaining in a fuel tank operates in accordance with a change in the resistance of a resistor device consisting essentially of a resistance plate having a resistor and a sliding element capable of sliding on the resistor in accordance with a liquid level change in the fuel tank. A warning means for issuing a warning when the amount of remaining fuel reaches a predetermined amount also operates by utilizing the resistor device. In such a fuel level gauge, the warning means is activated by a circuit disposed to connect a remaining-amount warning point and the warning means, the remaining-amount warning point being the position on the resistor at which the sliding element is positioned when the amount of remaining fuel reaches a predetermined amount which requires issuance of a warning.
