  • Publication number: 20040028372
Abstract: An optical fiber is immersed in a liquid having a low viscosity of not more than 1 Pa·s at 20° C., so that the liquid can permeate into gaps between turns of the optical fiber, and stresses, caused by a result of contact between the turns of the optical fiber, are eliminated, and in this state transmission characteristics of the optical fiber are measured.

  • Patent number: 4875918
Abstract: A method of manufacturing a glass fiber preform in which a quartz glass rod having an outer coating containing chlorine and a core doped for higher refractive index has blown thereon a soot formed by a burner fed with quartz glass raw material and a chlorine group gas undergoing flame hydrolysis. The resulting composite is the heated and fused to collapse.

  • Patent number: 4405274
Abstract: A snap ring is attachable to and detachable from a bolt with ease, the snap ring having a twisted part that enables the snap ring to extend around portions of two adjacent convolutions of the thread, the snap ring also having a split to enable portions of the snap ring to pass from one convolution to an adjacent convolution over the crest of a thread to thereby prevent the nut from coming off the bolt.
