  • Patent number: 7108487
Abstract: A fuel supply system has a cover, a pump unit, and metal pipes. The cover and the pump unit are connected through the use of the metal pipes so as to be moved relatively each other. A case cover, covering the pump unit, has supporting portions, each of which has a through hole. Each metal pipe is inserted through the through hole and thereby guided to be moved in its axial direction inside the supporting portion. The supporting portion has a plurality of grooves. Therefore, sliding resistance between the metal pipe and the supporting portion is reduced, that is, the pump unit can be smoothly moved relatively to the cover.

  • Publication number: 20060184274
Abstract: An autonomously moving robot drives while evading an obstacle by recognizing the obstacle and self-location by an environment information acquisitioner. The information acquisitioner comprises an imager that takes an image of a circumference on a driving route, an image recognition processor that extracts an area having a property relating to a region of a human body by arithmetically processing the photographed image, a ranger that measures a range and an orientation to an object existing in the circumference on the driving route, a range information analyzer that obtains a shape of the object by arithmetically processing the obtained range information and recognizing that the object is a candidate of a person, and an environment recognizer that recognizes the environment information on the driving route.

  • Patent number: 6923208
Abstract: In a fuel supply device disposed in a fuel tank, a pump module is constructed with at least a fuel pump, a fuel filter and a pressure regulator, and is installed in a sub-tank. A filter case of the fuel filter has first ribs and second ribs, so that an axially position between the pump module and the sub-tank is set by the first ribs, and a circumferential position therebetween is set by the second ribs. Further, a fuel inlet of a jet pump is formed in an inner bottom surface of the sub-tank, and an inner surface of the fuel inlet of the jet pump is tapered. Therefore, a fuel outlet of the pressure regulator is guided while being connected to the fuel inlet of the jet pump. Accordingly, the fuel supply device can be assembled easily.

  • Patent number: 6854451
Abstract: A fuel feed apparatus accommodates a sub tank. The sub tank includes a pump module The pump module generates vibration, and is supported by a supporting member and a suction filter. The suction filter is covered with a nonwoven fabric. The nonwoven fabric is used as an additional filter for removing debris in fuel drawn by the pump module. The supporting member and the nonwoven fabric have resilience. The pump module is mounted on the sub tank via the supporting member and the non woven fabric. Therefore, vibration of the pump module is not apt to be transmitted to the sub tank. Additionally, the supporting member need not to be rigidly formed, so that the supporting member can be manufactured easily.

  • Patent number: 6515614
Abstract: An autonomous moving apparatus moving to a destination while detecting and avoiding an obstacle includes a radar device for scanning a horizontal plane in its travelling direction to thereby detect a position of an obstacle and an obstacle sensor for detecting an obstacle in a space different from the scanning plane of the radar device. The apparatus moves to the destination under such control as to avoid the obstacle based on detection information from the radar device and the obstacle sensor from a detection output provided by a specific-configuration detecting element for detecting a present specific configuration from scanning information by the radar device. By providing such a specific-configuration detecting element that detects a specific configuration based on the scan information by the radar device that can accurately know about position information, it is possible to guess an obstacle having an upper structure, thus providing efficient avoidance.

  • Patent number: 6012284
Abstract: Exhaust gas is caused to flow through a bypass passage during an adsorption mode. At this time, an adsorbing member adsorbs harmful components, e.g. HC, of the exhaust gas. Also, exhaust gas is caused to flow through the bypass passage to thermally desorb the harmful component held at the adsorbing member during a desorption mode. A quantity of heat given from exhaust gas to the adsorbing member during the desorption mode is calculated based on an operation state of an engine. It is determined that the desorption of the harmful components has been finished when the quantity of heat given to the adsorbing member reaches a total quantity of heat required for totally desorbing the harmful components adsorbed by the adsorbing member.

  • Patent number: 5761902
Abstract: A change-over valve unit has a change-over valve for switching a bypass passage and an exhausting passage disposed in parallel therewith. An adsorbent is disposed in the bypass passage to adsorb exhaust components. An actuator of the change-over valve is isolated from an adsorption cylinder by a pedestal. Furthermore, rotary shafts of the control mechanism of the change-over valve are positioned within the bypass passage of the adsorber when the change-over valve is positioned to open the main exhaust passage. Thus, the heat of the exhaust gas flowing through the main exhaust passage is not transmitted to the rotary shafts.

  • Patent number: 5634333
Abstract: In an automotive engine exhaust pipe having a main flow passage and a bypass flow passage, the exhaust gas flows through the bypass flow passage having an heater-provided catalyst when an engine starts. After a main catalyst reaches a catalytic activation temperature, a switching valve switches the exhaust gas to flow through the main flow passage. The main shaft is divided into a driven shaft inserted into a bearing hole and a driving shaft inserted into another bearing hole, and therefore, a total length thereof in an axial direction is shorter than a length of the main shaft without having segments. Therefore, even though the driven shaft and the driving shaft are deformed into the arch shape, a deformation amount thereof is reduced so that inner peripheries of the bearing holes are not rubbed against the shafts.

  • Patent number: 5189266
Abstract: A resonance detection device is provided for detecting resonance in an exhaust passage of an automotive vehicle. The detection device employs a temperature sensor in combination with an arrangement which enables the sensor to be exposed to a flow of exhaust gas the temperature of which is different from the temperature of the bulk of the flow, when resonance occurs. In given embodiments the arrangement takes the form different diameter conduits and/or vessels, while others it takes the form of a heat exchange device which either heats or cools the gases, and which is disposed proximate the temperature sensor. When no resonance occurs in the passage, the output of the temperature sensor remains stable. When resonance occurs the fluid flow characteristics in the passage change in a manner wherein the gas which has been either heated or cooled by the heat exchange device is induced to flow against the temperature sensor.
