  • Patent number: 4159172
Abstract: A transfer sheet separator for use with electrophotographic copying machines in which either a toner image or an electrostatic latent image on a photoreceptor drum is transferred to a transfer sheet. A separation roller is arranged near to the drum surface at a separation station for separating the image transferred sheet which inevitably carries residual charge from the drum by electrostatic attraction. To this end, the roller is made from conductive material and either connected to the ground so as to be able to carry the opposite polarity charge than said charge by induction or floated and applied a bias potential of the opposite polarity. Alternatively, the roller is made of dielectric material and charged as well through a rubbing action, for example. With this electrostatic separation means, mechanical means cooperates for practical purposes to ensure such operation.

  • Patent number: 4080059
Abstract: An apparatus for cleaning an endless photosensitive surface includes a photoreceptor rotatable around a horizontal axis in an electrophotographic copying machine. A cleaning roller and an edge of a blade are maintained in frictional engagement with the upper run of the rotating surface and into the space between the roller and the blade, a cleaning liquid is continuously supplied onto the surface between the blade edge and the cleaning roller, thereby achieving an effective cleaning function. The liquid within the space tending to flow over the other edge of the blade remote from the photosensitive surface and to then drip on the cleaned surface, is effectively prevented in accordance with the invention.

  • Patent number: 4032229
Abstract: The electrophotographic copying machines are of the type in which a photosensitive drum is removable from the machine, for inspection or other purposes, through an opening formed in a sidewall, which opening is normally covered by a coverplate. Plural cleaning devices which are normally maintained in pressing engagement with the peripheral drum surface, are automatically released from such engagement once the coverplate has been dismounted from the sidewall and also returned to the original position as the coverplate is remounted, thereby preventing damage of the drum as well as a wrong usage of the machine which may be caused by inadvertently failing to reset each cleaning device.

  • Patent number: 4018524
Abstract: A construction for preventing a scattering or spillage of a developing solution applied to the peripheral surface of a rotating photosensitive drum beyond the lateral ends thereof in an electrophotographic copying machine of wet developing type. Two end plates which rotate with the drum are each provided with an axially extending cylindrical hub portion on which a stationary flow guide ring is sealingly engaged. A lateral flow of solution on the peripheral drum surface is guided along the guide plate to flow down without scattering the flow and is collected in a reservoir below the drum.

  • Patent number: 3977666
Abstract: An apparatus for selectively feeding desired sheets from a plurality of cassettes which store different respective sizes and kinds of sheets includes a handle lever located adjacent to the plurality of cassettes which are disposed in a vertically aligned stack. When the handle lever is moved to the location of a particular cassette containing desired sheets, only that cassette is rendered ready for feeding the sheets. If that cassette is exhausted, an indicator lamp provides a signal for sheet loading.
