  • Patent number: 6808206
Abstract: An impact absorbing member is made of rigid polyurethane foam, and has a plate shape and recesses formed in at least one surface thereof such that the recesses are arranged in parallel along one direction. Each recess has a triangle section in a depth direction of the impact absorbing member, and has a sectional area decreasing toward a bottom thereof.

  • Publication number: 20010054814
Abstract: To provide an impact absorbing member for use in vehicles which has excellent energy absorbing capacity and is suitably adapted to absorb impact energy exerted on the head of an occupant in a vehicle cabin to reduce the head injury criteria value in the event of a vehicle collision. An impact absorbing member 1 is a plate-like impact absorbing member 1 made of rigid polyurethane foam and has recesses 3 formed in at least one surface thereof such that the recesses 3 are arranged in parallel along one direction. The shape of each recess 3 on the sectional view in the depth direction of the impact absorbing member 1 is a triangle to have sectional area decreasing toward the deepest point.

  • Patent number: 6286807
Abstract: A mold for expanded moldings capable of efficiently forming small-sized products in high-yield includes a vessel-shaped lower mold and an upper mold covering the lower mold. A partition wall is disposed protrusively from the bottom surface of the upper mold, and the partition wall divides the inside of the mold into a plurality of small cavities. A clearance of approximately 1 to 10 mm is defined between the partition wall and the base of the lower mold.

  • Patent number: 6221930
Abstract: A lightweight shock absorber has an ideal F-S waveform, and is formed of a foam resin material. The cross-sectional area of the absorber in the compression axis direction and the vertical direction changes at least partially in the compression axis direction, and consequently the relation between distortion and compressive stress in the compression axis direction (F-S waveform) is approximately linear.

  • Patent number: 5550169
Abstract: A flexible or semi-hard polyurethane foam is prepared from a blend containing a polyhydroxyl compound, an isocyanate, a blowing agent, a catalyst, and a foam stabilizer. A polyolefin polyol is used as the polyhydroxyl compound. A carboxy, epoxy or methacryl-modified organosilicone is used as the foam stabilizer. The resulting polyurethane foam is impermeable to water.

  • Patent number: 5319841
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a polyurethane foam-filled container of the type wherein the cavity is filled with polyurethane foam of open-cell structure, characterized in that the foam is filled in compressed state and the compression is effected in the direction of the minor axis of the unit cell constituting the foam. The container is suitable as fuel tanks and ink and paint reservoirs. Also disclosed herein is a method for filling polyurethane foam into a container.
