  • Publication number: 20040250092
Abstract: A technology is provided to improve tamper resistance in encrypting data to be secured and inputting/outputting the data between a recording device and a host device. When the recording device issues an input/output command to a storage device to input/output data to be secured, the recording device attaches an ID to the command to identify to which cryptographic input/output processing the command belongs. Upon reception of a sequence command, the storage device receives the command if its ID has been allocated and the command is verified to have been issued in the correct sequence. The sequence ID is used to identify a process system while appropriately managing the steps of executing commands.

  • Publication number: 20040179691
Abstract: A decryption processing unit (1516) decrypts encrypted content data using a license key Kc. When an elapsed time after reception of the license key (Kc) does not exceed a hold time at a time of the license key (Kc) included in reproduction control information (ACp), reproduction of encrypted content data continues. When the elapsed time exceeds the hold time at a time, the license key (Kc) is discarded, and a reproduction control unit (1514) again obtains a license key (Kc) from a memory card (110). Discarding and reobtaining license key (Kc) continues until an allowable output count of license key (Kc) from the memory card (110) becomes zero. As a result, a reproduction time of encrypted content data can be controlled safely.

  • Publication number: 20040105331
Abstract: A recording area of a hard disk is managed “unit” by “unit” where a “unit” is constituted by physically continuous recording regions having predetermined size, and usage status of the unit is stored in an allocation unit (AU) management table. Data requiring a real time processing is stored unit by unit. When the usage status of the unit is changed or modified due to the recording or deletion of data, the AU management table is updated and then information indicative of the fact that the AU management table has been updated is recorded. An apparatus where the final change is made is detected at the time the hard disk is inserted or a file system is initialized. And if the apparatus which last made the change adopts the file system which does not use the AU management table, then the table is reconfigured so as to retain the consistency of the AU management table.

  • Patent number: 6373407
Abstract: The computer system includes a host system, a recording medium, and a digital signal decoder connected to the host system and the recording medium. The digital signal decoder receives M-bit data and generates an N-bit code word from the M-bit data. The number of consecutive bits of 1 in the code word is not larger than a first predetermined number K, and the number of consecutive bits of 0 is not larger than a second predetermined number L. When data is recorded/reproduced by a method such as NRZI (Non-Return to Zero Inverted), or the like, there is a defect in that the number of transitions of data is larger in a code with a high data encoding rate, and the run length of zero is long thereby increasing the data decoding error rate with the recording/reproducing of data. In the digital signal decoder according to the present invention, any code word includes at most 3 consecutive bits of 1, and at most 11 consecutive bits of 0, so that the data decoding error rate can be reduced.

  • Patent number: 6182803
Abstract: A spring-actuated electromagnetic brake includes a noise-suppressing device for suppressing a striking noise emitted when an armature is attracted onto a field to release the brake when an electromagnetic coil is excited to magnetize the field. The noise-suppressing device is comprised of a plurality of hemispherical elastic members each disposed in one of recesses formed in one of two opposed surfaces of the field and the armature. When the brake is in the engaged state, a hemispherical surface of each elastic member partially projects from the recess and is in contact with the other of the two opposed surface. When subjected to a compressive force or pressure applied from the armature, the hemispherical elastic member undergoes elastic deformation as a whole and does not produce any locally concentrated elastic deformation. The hemispherical elastic member is highly durable and is able to greatly suppress the striking noise generated when the brake is released.

  • Patent number: 6155386
Abstract: A spring-actuated electromagnetic brake includes an adjustment plate attached a rotating shaft and having an annular recess in one end face thereof facing a boss of a brake plate slidably mounted on the rotating plate. An annular elastic member is disposed in the annular recess in such a manner that when the brake is in the released state, the elastic member partially projects from the recess and is in contact with an end face of the boss. A slide-distance adjustment bolt having an enlarged head and a thread-free shank of a length larger than the thickness of the adjustment plate extends through an opening of the adjustment plate and is threaded on the end face of the boss. The brake plate is slidable in one direction by the force of the brake spring and in the opposite direction by the recovery force of the elastic member. The range of sliding movement of the brake plate is determined by the difference between the length of the shank of the bolt and the thickness of the adjustment plate.

  • Patent number: 5239160
Abstract: In a laser beam machine tool, the problems of power losses, misalignment, high cost, and other problems associated with moving laser heads are eliminated by using a five-axis table in which a biaxial work holder, capable of rotating and tilting a workpiece is mounted on a three-axis table mechanism. In the three-axis table mechanism, an X-axis table is supported on linear motion bearings in overlapping relationship on a Y-axis table, which is, in turn, supported on linear motion bearings on a vertically movable Z-axis table, which is also supported in linear motion bearings. The X-axis, Y-axis and Z-axis tables are driven by servo motors through ball screws so that backlash is avoided.

  • Patent number: 5224716
Abstract: In a workpiece support for use with a laser beam machine tool, in which the workpiece is rotated about an axis tiltable through 90.degree. or more to either side of a vertical condition, the workpiece is held by a chuck driven through a right-angle speed reducer by a servomotor. The chuck, reducer and motor are all supported on a shaft rotatably mounted in bearings on a frame. The shaft is coupled to a disc having angle markings and lockable at discrete rotational positions on the frame. Fine adjustment of the rotational position of the shaft relative to the disc is effected by engagement of an offset protrusion on the end of the shaft by a screw-shifted operating member on the disc. Two such operating members are provided in opposed relationship on opposite sides of the protrusion so that they can be used to lock the shaft and disc securely together.

  • Patent number: 5156382
Abstract: In a workpiece support, a servomotor, a right-angle speed reducer and a work gripping device are supported on a horizontal shaft which is rotatable on bearings in a frame to tilt the axis of rotation of the workpiece. The shaft is locked against rotation by a lever-operated screw, which exerts a lateral force on the shaft through a lock ring. The lock ring is held against rotation by a pin which is fixed to the frame and which extends into a hole in the lock ring along an axis parallel to the axis of the screw. Fixing the lock ring against rotation prevents unintended movement of the shaft caused by tightening of the lever-operated screw. The inner surface of the lock ring is provided with an axial extending V-shaped groove which engages a spacer ring fixed on the shaft along two lines of contact for secure locking of the shaft against rotation.
